Chip Shop Moment

One of the things I loved about School Reunion was Sarah Jane's 'chip shop moment' where she got to share a few home truths with the 10th Doctor and, perhaps, re-build a few bridges too.

Jo Grant had her own chip shop moment, but her's was with the 11th Doctor and on an alien planet (during a Sarah Jane Adventure episode).

Both scenes are lovely. Two former companions each get the chance to ask why the Doctor never came back to see them, and also expose the very human view they had of their relationship with him (as opposed to his time lord point of view).

So which companion do you think deserves a chip shop moment with the Doctor and what would they say?

I'm thinking Ace? She and the seventh Doctor were a great team - and it would be cool to find out what officially happened to her...it seems a bit ambiguous

    What's a chip shop moment? :o

A feeling of intense disappointment, an expectation of euphoria and happiness, cruelly taken away at the last second just as it is imminent...... Apparently

It's definitely either what fastest finger describes or a reference to the scene in the chip shop in School Reunion — e.g. just like there was about a decade when the standard question of incoming Conservative leaders was whether they'd find a Clause IV moment, even though the Conservatives have never had a Clause IV.

I always thought Ace/Dorothy outgrew The Doctor and went off to fight the Daleks of her own accord? :o:confused:

I would suggest a character rather than a companion. I liked Rita out of The God Complex. It would be nice for The Doctor to meet her again.

The Doctor- "I need to buy some books on fishing"
Rita-"We don't sell books but I can help you as I'm a Doctor, you seem a bit confused "
The Doctor- "I have a time machine"

You're not from up North, are you?

Barm cake = teacake only nicer and not toasted.

Peawet is beyond my knowledge, though I can guess what it is. Not an East Lancashire delicacy. :)

Lots of planets have a North.

But only one does a chip roll in that hemisphere. :)

Do the south not say chips?

I thought "fries" was an American thing. :D

It is, though even there you still [very, very] occasionally see 'fish & chips' offered for sale as the pair has become idiomatic.

    Ahhh...you mean a batch ;)

I think jack deserves his chip shop moment (or a second one if you count his reactor scene in utopia )
It seems to have been a while now since we last saw him....he needs an update on the latest goings on with the doctor.

Also Peri, so the doctor can explain why left her with that loudmouth who over laughs at things that aren't funny!

I would say Tegan but because I get the Big Finish plays, she's already had her opportunity to tell the Doctor what she thinks of him.

I once went to a shop in Lincoln and asked for a cheese barmcake. Got a funny look. It's a bap in that part of the country. :D

It's a chip sarnie where I come from, which is almost as far south as you can go without falling into the sea.

Apart from the Isle of Wight, but that land is trapped in the past. Really, there are dinosaurs and everything...
