Nothing to do with "bottling it" and pricing it in line with Ipads then!!?

Nothing to do with charging nigh on an extra £100 for the cover/keyboard !!?

Brand new operating system / tablet to market - and they didn't have the balls to price it so that it would be of interest to more than just the "tecchies".

Should have been/be at least £100 cheaper than the cheapest Ipad.

Massive chance missed IMO.

I agree with his reasons "We've had a modest start because Surface is only available on our online retail sites and a few Microsoft stores in the United States," I'm interested (probably more in the pro then the RT) but want to play with one in store first.

Looks good but that is a lot of money for a tablet

I live in Switzerland and I had to jump through a few hoops to get it. But now I have it only a couple of hours and
I like it already 😃 I set up my 3 email accounts, upgraded apps, installed a few new ones I already tried on my W8 laptop. It's pretty fast, too. I think I won't be using the touch cover much for typing, only as a protection. The on screen keyboard is pretty comfortable. I am typing this post with it and it's fine.

This is true. Its hardly going to sell in massive volumes when its so limited in where you can get one.

I've found one thing with my Surface; literally everyone who sees it wants one. But most of those people start the same way; "why not get an iPad instead?" or "I'm happy with my iPad." It's only after I've shown off its capabilities that they change their tune - but even then they're not planning to rush out and get one. They're waiting until they decide its time to upgrade from their current tablet.

That's what Microsoft are fighting against. Its not that its a poor product, its that nobody knows much about it. You can't walk into a local electronics store and see a demo unit sitting on a shelf next to all the android tablets and iPads. People who see it , like it. But barely anyone has seen the bloody thing!

Cos it's too expensive - especially when you consider the restrictions RT has with regard to the software you can run on it (or not).
