no signal on one of two boxes

One of my two sky HD boxes is showing a '25' no signal error message. The other box, connected to the same dish, is fine. Inputs 1 and 2 are showing as 'not locked' on the problem box and Sky have advised an engineer visit at £65. I have powered down, checked that the cable connections to the box are fine, and done a software update reset process, but I still get the error message 25 (the error message suggests that I should still get recordings and on demand, but both of these snow a 'box still initialising' message and have done for hours)
It is windy today but I would have thought any exterior issues would have affected both boxes. I can't see any obvious issues outside.
Does anyone have any advice for what I can do before paying for an engineer visit?
