What are the Big Brother 'eras'?

As far as I see them,

BB1-4, the 'Classic' years
Fresh, new - all a bit innocent.

BB5-7, the 'Golden' years
The best years of BB and the gold standard. The height of BB popularity, riskier housemates, front page news and probably never matched.

BB8-11, the 'Decline' years
After the Shilpa racism row, BB mostly played it safe with HM choice, all the ofcom nonsense started. Some pretty dire series and housemates.

B12-Present, the 'Channel 5' years
Each series is virtually indistinguishable, mostly dull attractive people, promo girls etc, no live feed etc. Crazy to think this is now the fifth series since moving to Five.

The golden years for me i'd just about put BB8 into that as well , it was quite inventive still and had laugh out loud moments. 5, 6 , 7 an 8 i loved all those.

Actually BB11 onwards that is for me where i'd start to use the words.. it started to get "shitty" from then.

BB8 was the best time for this forum.

I have never laughed so much at the STFU threads.

Big Brother 3 was a golden year, and it definitely had headline news.

i would agree but i wish i could put BB9 in with the golden years as i thought that was a return to form before it went completely to pot.

I agree with OP but I thought that BB9 was one of the best series.

    I also liked BB11.

Actually thinking about this again BB1 to 10 were all pretty damn good. Even 4 was kinda unique at the time.

BB11 onwards had there good moments too obviously. But there definitely poorer overall than the previous ones imo any way.

Mostly agree with the OP though I would place BB9 on its own as a shining light between the naff years of 8, 10 & 11.

Also I would place 12 & 13 as the Ch5 infancy era, then 14 onwards as getting into the juniors. :D

The best thing about BB4, was that E4 showed us the South Africa episodes whilst Cameron was in their house. I loved watching them.
