The best and Worst things to ever happen to Soaps?

What do you think is the best and the worst thing/decision to ever happen to the soaps?
BEST
Corrie - Richard Hillman; the way the storyline twisted and turned and involved so many characters really did shake up the soap.
Eastenders - Slaters Arrival; really shook up the characters and the Slaters carried the soap for a good few years after their arrival.
Emmerdale - Plane Crash; paved the way for the other soaps to show what they could do in terms of vision and scope.
WORST
Corrie - Daft plot device characters; always there and should blatantly wear a big sign saying PLOT DEVICE as they are so disjointed from the rest of the action on the street (Tim, Xin etc) but all soaps are guilty of this but Corrie is the worst.
Enders - Brian Kirkwood; enough said.:mad:
Emmerdale - Stuart Blackburn; enough said.:mad:
