He' not obliged to take such a call or meeting but when he says the "stakes could not be higher" you would imagine he would want to hear what Pfizer have to say.

So nobody believes that he has no time to take a call for the next month because of the European elections.

To be fair the wind had probably changed direction between him refusing the meeting and saying that , well that or realized he missed another bandwagon to jump on
Oh so "the market rools" only applies so far does it...suddenly it's ok for politicians to start getting involved...I'm shocked I truly am .
Ed's already involved as he wants the Prime Minister to subject Pfizer’s £63bn bid for Astra Zeneca to an independent “national interest test”.
The Labour leader accused David Cameron of acting as a “cheerleader” for the controversial deal rather than protecting the British pharamceutical company's future.
“I think David Cameron is in totally the wrong place on this issue,” he told the BBC’s Andrew Marr show. “He has become a cheerleader for Pfizer’s takeover when instead he should be championing Astra Zeneca’s long term plan.”
He added: "The prime minister, rather than being that cheerleader for this takeover with paper thin assurances, should be actually championing British jobs and a British success story that is AstraZeneca – investing in research and development, a crucial part of our science base."
Mr Miliband suggested that Cameron should adopt the protectionist stance of other economies. “No other country in the world would be waving this bid through," he said.
Why doesn't he think it's worthwhile meeting the head of Pfizer? Because it would then leave him open to actually have to answer specific questions and he would have to give facts to support his rhetoric that could be disputed.
Because the headlines would have condemned Ed whatever he did
Of course they would. He's asked that the bosses of Pfizer and Astrazeneca are called in front of a Westminster select committee and questioned over the proposed £63bn pharmaceuticals mega-merger., that should be enough.
Has Cameron had any meetings with the Pfizer chief or just his business secretary ?
Why on earth would Miliband spend valuable time meeting the CEO of Pfizer when he could be out playing with politics like the good boy he is?
Play is all Labour do. They want power for the sake of it - they haven't a clue what they'd do with it if they got it. I actually think this mob would be an even bigger disaster than the Blair/Brown class.

Miliband -
Not Minded to talk to Pfizer.
So nobody believes that he has no time to take a call for the next month because of the European elections.
No idea about anyone else, but I don't.
To be fair the wind had probably changed direction between him refusing the meeting and saying that , well that or realized he missed another bandwagon to jump on
Which socialist would this be?
So a potential Prime Minister should have no interest in something thats worth billions to British economy ?
Why on earth would Ed want to keep such a meeting secret?
This could have been a chance for Ed to take a lead on the situation but he bottled it.
Has potential PM done a deal with asset strippers and tax dodgers?
Ed's "private and off the record" supper club with the "business community":

How about potential PM saves British jobs or keeps billions in the British economy ?
With Ed it would more likely be potential PM cocks it up but this was a test for him and his abilities as a leader one which he failed

Only if he got it wrong but I'm assuming from that comment you expect him to cock it up

My blood runs cold at the thought.
Dave has been busy elsewhere:

He probably just needed a bit of comfort food to make him feel better because the Pfizer chief hasn't asked to meet with him
another one.
And you know this because...You have access to his diary
Interesting - thanks.
