Interesting but i do not agree with some of his conclusions especially online communities think they are representative of the whole audience.

As Duncan Barkes might say,"I am just a guy on a forum with an opinion" changed the word radio with the word forum. ;-)

A couple of uncomfortable home truths there, especially points 2 & 3.

Yes very interesting, although we're not on LBC's own website so I don't think any of us are really under the impression that the great and the good at Global are taking notice.

    Are we?

Actually that's a point, I wonder what would happen if we all upped sticks and decamped to the LBC website to make our comments?

Point 1 could be a commentary of this thread.

He raises some interesting points but communities are by their very
nature, protective and hierarchical. Something we "new guys on the
    block" have to live with

I agree again. But in the same way that Ched Evans could have gone back to his career as a footballer without involving himself or benefiting from the high profile "showbiz" side of the sport, so could Pryce go back to being an economist without being continually promoted on radio and TV.

I do not believe that she is the only person in this country who has an expert view on the Greek economy and is able to string a few sentences together. Whoever at LBC makes the decision to continue rolling her out at every possible opportunity on Iain dales programme really needs to think what it might look like given her relationship with Biteback and try a bit harder to find an alternative.

At least your view is consistent even if I don't entirely agree with everything you say. What I don't understand is how sanctimonious many LBC presenters got when criticising football clubs for considering employing Ched Evans when he was released from prison but are more than happy to say nothng when their employer gives a former convict airtime. Their hypocrisy is breathtaking.

The argument that the crimes are different just doesn't wash. Ched Evans was given a much longer sentence than Vicky Pryce to reflect the more serious nature of his crime. However, they have both served their time so once released, his situation and that of Vicky Pryce isn't really that different.

...and Brian's dad no doubt got him his first job in the media.

To be fair (which is not something I do often), JO'B has often talked about the dead-end jobs that he did before getting started on his career, so I think he probably did it largely by himself.

    Maybe not.

But they take enough notice for some of the presenters to come to this thread either defending themselves or replying. And I am sure that many more LBC staff read here than admit it.

I tend to agree. There's a difference between actively obstructing someone from taking up their career again, which is a decision for potential employers, not for the public, and using the media to promote them (or to slag them off and discourage said potential employers). People released from prison should simply be ignored by the media and allowed to get on with their lives.

What on earth is wrong with Steve Allen?

He's been talking about food for 30 minutes, with at least 10 minutes on abattoirs and the detailed process of animal slaughter.

He really is quite sick, he often goes into these minute details of death - both human and animal - and it is quite sickening.

The bit I heard of him he was drooling and drivelling on about fried bread with crispy bacon on top. He can't stop thinking about it apparently.

Then he talked about interviewing Anne Reid with whom he has a lot in common(!). She's not interested in a romantic relationship at her age. "Why would you be, I'm the same." Anne Reid is knocking 80, Allen has just turned 60. Then he said it's never too late for love, even if you're over 75.

Yes it is. Most odd as well and a bit worrying.

I think JOB must have been having a look at us lately. He's stopped a caller asking "how are you" and mentioned champagne socialism in the last 20 minutes.

OK, I know I'm going to be accused of being obsessed with voices, accents and of hating women presenters etc, BUT, Lindsay Kinghorn, LBC's new newsreader, has a weird way of pronnouning certain words, that annoys me.

Please employ people with clear speaking voices for the news and voiceovers, LBC!!!

I agree. When Lindzi Kinghorn reads the news on LBC, the way she pronounces the L's is ridiculous. I don't mean to be rude, as she is very professional and clear and well spoken, better than me ! But the L's Lindzi , the L's !

Example......when she says the word " ill " ...it is said like this "eeeeelllllllll"

I'm glad I'm not the only one to notice!

I cannot take in any news she reads out, because I'm listening out for her very odd pronunciation.

Wales becomes wails (wa-eels), and as you say, anything with an 'L' in it becomes most bizarre when she says it.

Brian does tend to be accused of champagne socialism both here and on Twitter. Did he mention his schooling today? I bet he did. He always does.

No, I don't think he did. Brian Snr no doubt saw that Brian Jnr needed a job and got him one.

Is she related to the erstwhile Talksport presenter?

It's not on my radio list. I suppose I need to do a channel re-install.

Well, he might have, neither of us knows for sure, but you also stood a much better chance of getting a job in the shipyards in days gone by if your dad worked there. So I wouldn't be too bothered about it.

But her conviction was not connected to her work and there was nothing in what I said that suggested otherwise.

If she shouldn't work as an economist what should she do, live off benefits?
