I find it a fascinating story, imagine being a part of something this big. I loved the part where they say they almost named the programme “Mr. Spreadsheet”

Visicalc was a phenomenal innovation. Up till then, computer programs consisted primarily of conventional languages like Basic/Fortran which required data to be stored separately from the executable modules.
The game changer was now you could program formulae in a high level interface AND SAVE DATA at same time.
It still amuses me when people say "I can't program - I only use spreadsheets!".

Microsoft's first spreadsheet application was in fact Multiplan until replaced by Excel.
Seems to apply to almost everything in tech. Usually requires the second or third producer to make the tech usable and/or affordable. The mass market then thinks that the second or third producer was the innovator.
That's not to belittle the task of making something usable. It's business innovation if you like. But it's a different type of task.
