Purely based on dance

We all know by now that the voting from the public never goes the way it should based purely on dance. Being an entertainment show, a lot of people vote for underdogs, people they like etc. I mean no Gavin or Ann fan ever claimed to vote for their dancing :D:p

Putting feeling about personality aside, what should the order have been?

I say:
Paul or Ann
Gavin or Peter
Goldie or Michelle
Felicity
Patsy
Tina
Jimi
Pam
Scott or Matt
Kara

There is no denying who the top 4 were. I am pleased that even though rubbish people last a long time, it always ends up being about dancing in the end.

I tend to agree with your order although you seem to have omitted from Matt from your list!

I'd place him between Pamela and Jimi.

I would say, based on what we saw of them:

    Paul
Ann (but only because her first dance was basically her best)
    Peter
    Gavin
    Tina
    Goldie
    Michelle
    Pasty
    Jimi
    Felicity
    Scott
    Matt
    Pam
    Kara

In effect, for many on the list, we can only judge on the little we saw and their potential to improve. Who knows what potential Goldie might have shown? Or, more so, Tina and Jimi? Peter was quite good at ballroom, but that ghastly Charleston did for him - lest we forget, he was marked lower than Widdy that week! Not that he would have got much further, I should think.

In theory, most dancers should have got better as time progressed, but the Scott meltdown rather blows that theory, since he must be the first contestant to start off so well and then get worse, not better. And Widdy was never going to get any better, come what may.

I think both Tina and Jimi could/should have got further, and that Widdy should have gone out a lot earlier, but I have no quarrel with the eventual finishing order, nor with the top three placings.

    Good result all round. :)

Would it surprise you to learn that Jimi was 5th on the overall Leaderboard? :)

Rose-2010 - you missed him out completely - I think that's what happened the week he was eliminated too :o

    thanks for replying :)

I knew the big four would be at the top of everyone's lists, but some of the others are debatable :D

Watching the week by week summary last night, I was struck by how "right" the order of elimination was throughout this series. I think Paul, Goldie and Shilts were all of a muchness and their order was pretty interchangeable, but at the same time, the older men have more stature with the public than Goldie, so, again, I must say the order they left was correct.

However, in purely dance terms -

    Ann
    Shilts
    Goldie
    Michelle
    Paul
    Tina
    Patsy
    Gavin
    Jimi
    Felicity
    Scott
    Matt
    Pamela
    Kara

    Matt
    Scott
    Kara

Not easy, as we saw more of some than others. Some who may have developed well (Jimi and Tina particularly) were not given the opportunity to do so. I am gussing at how they might have progressed.

I guess he would be somewhere near gavin and patsy. Ithink it rather sad that we didn't get to see more of him. It's strange how quickly you forget people!

The trouble is people often forget those in the middle of the leaderboard and save the ones at the bottom.

Ok, so Gavin progressed slightly, but for week after week he was truly awful. But his voters never pretended to vote for his dancing, and people can vote how they like :)

I always voted on dance though, and the final four were all brilliant.

I didn't vote for him, but I think Gavin progressed more than slightly and he wasn't truly awful week after week. The was always something to pick up on during his performances, but there was always something good too. He wasn't that bad, just never good.

    1) Kara

The best technical dancer, but her performances left me cold most of the time. She was too worried about forgetting her steps, and it showed.

    2) Pam

My favourite dancer from the line-up. She was technically good most of the time and she clearly loved to perform. A bit heavy on her feet at times.

    3) Scott

Slightly overrated. His jive was very good, but almost too powerful, and it lacked finesse for me. His VW was rather overshadowed by Pam's and Kara's later on. Hip-based Latin was out of his reach, which ruled out a lot of dances for him.

    4) Matt

Probably the most overrated dancer ever. His lines often looked rather ugly to me, and he never seemed to remotely enjoy dancing. Bland and not very watchable IMO.

    5) Jimi

Decent Ballroom, but some of his Latin was horrible.

    6) Patsy
    7) Felicity
    8) Tina
    9) Gavin
    10) Goldie
    11) Michelle
    12) Peter
    13) Paul
    14) Ann
