Well nothing had been confirmed but that article makes it seem a whole lot more likely that the reason she has been erased from the Sky F1 team is because she has jumped onto the BT ship.
All speculation really isn't it, pushed/jumped? I would say it seems like quite a gamble for someone who's been at Sky for over 11 years and was only recently 'promoted' to the F1 gig to suddenly decide to jump ship to a new broadcaster, given the two other previous Premier League broadcasters lasted just two and four years after winning the rights.
Motor racing is dangerous. Says so on the ticket. No fencing will ever 100% protect spectators from debris if a car get airborne and hits it. The tyre didn't even hit the fence by the looks of it.. went straight over the top. It's just unfortunate but there is always risk and danger with motor sport. Hope everyone there is ok.
She very much had a limited role and she is likely to get more airtime with BT, she might be not be enjoying working in F1, she might not be enjoying the amount of travelling associated with F1, loads of reasons why she might have decided to move on, not a gamble at all really.
Yes, just learned of this news a few minutes ago. An ominous beginning to the 2013 Motor Racing Season...
Let's hope all injured, especially those seriously, all make a complete recovery - and that there are no fatalities.
I remember the noise of Alonso hitting the barriers right in front of me at Indy 2004, which was in hindsight a fairly innocuous shunt, but trust me it seemed anything but right there in the flesh...
Harrowing footage via Deadspin, Nascar removing any footage from youtube as fast as it goes up, but it looked like the fence was about as much use as paper. Noticed one of the reasons Brad Keslowski was fined today pre race was by saying something along the lines of Nascar won't wake up until a death. Looks like they have one on their hands now, various outlets reporting a cameraman being a fatality. The internet is good at knee jerk reporting, let's hope that is the case this time.

I wouldn't trust any internet sources this early but they're having an official press conference in 15 mins and they usually don't do that unless they have something to announce.
However one of the videos I've seen included the cameraman running away from his post so if it's the same one then perhaps that's just idle speculation...

Saying that, (And I know some people are down on twitter but in times like this it is invaluable if you look at the official sources)
Florida police reporting 30 minutes ago 17 injured, worst being a man in surgery in Critical condition and a 14 year old boy also badly hurt. Nascar adament that the 500 goes ahead tomorrow.
Watched the Nascar race earlier tonight live on Motors TV. Yes it looked a scary smash, surprised the drivers of those cars appeared to be walking away uninjured. I notice there was a notice on the spectator side of the wall that said "keep off wall and fencing" anyone who was ignoring the instructions would have been wiped out.
Quite true Codename, by the way @JennaFryer is a good follow too, Nascar reporter for the AP. ESPN contributors are tweeting that Nascar seem more concerned about copyright rather than the safety of fans, most think a large law suit is just around the corner, no pun intended.
About time they looked at doing away with the pack racing, There may be fans out there who love it but I've heard many comments from drivers over the years which suggests that none of them do.
When you have a situation where you have 30+ cars all stuck in a big pack running side-by-side at 200mph, Your just waiting for the crash to happen & it always does because if someone at the front makes a mistake then everyone behind is left with nowhere to go. Also with all this bump drafting & 2-car tandem drafts your just making it more likely to happen as your encouraging drivers to make contact to push one another.
What a curious day. Am currently on business in the US and bad weather pushed me back to my hotel. I thought I was in luck that the Nationwide race was half way through on ESPN. It was great to finally see NASCAR in HD after so many years of dire downscaled converted quality in the UK.
But then came the incident - 28 injured with 14 of those sent to hospital is an horrendous number. I just hope the 2 in critical condition pull through.
The ESPN NASCAR team did a very professional job at handling the event and extended their broadcast by 40 minutes. Their ESPN colleagues afterwards less so - their initial SportsCenter bulletins afterwards were still leading on Danica's retirement before the injuries.
By the time of the press conference on the incident it had emerged as the national lead story and it was carried live on CNN, ESPN and Speed.

The irony in that statement.
With a car the weight of a NASCAR vehicle travelling at close to 200mph I would have said the safety fencing did remarkably well. The torn off engine coming to rest against the inside of the retaining wall bears testament to fencing having done it's best to resist the forces imparted.
Woah, what a crash, thanks for link.
Watched a few News channels this morning and they all just showed brief pictures. Not sure, but seemed as if they were not allowed to show it.
Suppose as no Brit was involved it does not make the News.
Must have been some serious injuries to the crowd.

If only my "Eddie Jordan to Sky" speculation that was misconstrued as 'fact' had been true, I could have claimed another win for the DS brigade
More here, some interesting comments too.

Looks like NSC is taking down videos faster then you can say lawsuit.
