Where do I look for somebody?

I've been told that an agency isn't the best idea but I haven't seen a cleaning leaflet from a small company since I moved house.

Do you have any recommendations?

If you have an agency on the right t&c they will do all the employment and immigration checks that are now required .. Otherwise you are liable ...
They also can be useful if your cleaner goes on holiday ......
    or provide insurance....... Etc ,

It's worth going with an agency with a solid reputation, but if you're unsure of which to trust, you can always contact your local council and ask for a list of approved agencies that do residential cleaning.

Failing that, try an estate agent as they usually have a list of cleaning agencies for their rental properties. That's how we found one for our gran a couple of years ago, thanks to an acquaintance who was an estate agent.

Otherwise, rely on the word of mouth - locals, neighbours, colleagues, etc., but it's a little riskier.
