GTAV has been in development for years now on the Xbox 360 and PS3 and is designed to squeeze every last drop out of these consoles. We REALLY don't understand this weird fixation people have about Next Gen when games like San Andreas, Metal Gear Solid 3, etc, all came out in the PS2's and Xbox's final year.
The first year of consoles is generally one of the slowest outside of the first month, and the Xbox 360 and PS3 will still be available! It's not like both the 360 and PS3 will suddenly stop working once the Xbox One and PS4 are out! If YOU decide to trade in your console, that's your issue.
It doesn't make sense to target a game which has had multiple tens of millions spent on the budget and is currently the main focus of ALL Rockstar Studios onto such a small userbase the next generation platforms will currently have when there's over 100 Million+ Current Gen users with the Xbox 360 and PS3, especially when the game has been designed to be the big bang to end the gen.
Totally agree with Ash here. GTAV will be amazing. Is there a multiplayer like GTAIV?
If I bought a PS4 on release, it would sit on the shelf whilst I play GTAV and Beyond, and COD - Ghosts.

Ye i know all that, im just saying its a pity GTA couldn't have come out in say March where it would have had a good run prior to the release of the new console.
I have no idea how many people will be purchasing the next gen consoles in the first 4/5 weeks (leading up to Christmas) but i can bet the vast majority of them will be reluctant to spend 40 / 50 quid on a game for their soon to be 'old' machine, especially parents who will be spending around£500 (machine + extra controller + games) on it for Christmas presents.
I think GTA being released will entice people to hold on to their current gen consoles rather than trade them in but to be honest I have already made that mistake, i held on to my old consoles in the past and they end up just collecting dust.

San Andreas came out in 2004, that was two years before the launch of the PS3.

I agree with you if GTA5 is awesome then you will keep playing it, but personally i am really excited for the PS4 and i hated GTA 4 i honestly just did not get along with it at all.
I am normally one to buy new consoles on release its just this current gen seems to have lasted a lot longer than normal (probably all in my head) so i really want to get into the PS4
Ash made a good point about San Andreas which was one of my favourite games ever, being released towards the end of the PS2 life cycle.

I'm getting it on 360 as I can switch my Live account between that and the new SpyBox.
May get a next gen version on either platform if they become available. Just to see the upscaling.
I would get a launch model but I have yet to see a launch game that I'm bothered about. Mid 2014 sees Mirrors Edge 2 and Kingdom Hearts 3 which will probably make me buy.
There are 23 titles where developers have said they're launch titles.
Ass Creed 4
Basement Crawl
Battlefield 4
Blacklight Retrobution (free to play)
COD Ghosts
Contrast
DC Universe Online (free to play)
Doki Doki Universe
Driveclub
Fifa 14
Hohokum
Just Dance 2014
Killzone Shadow Fall
Knack
LEGO Marvel Super Heroes
Madden 25
NBA 2K14
NBA Live 14
Need For Speed Rivals
Planetside 2 (free to play)
Skylanders Swap Force
Watch Dogs
Wolfenstein
That's actually a really decent line up of launch titles. But then I do remember when consoles launched with 5 games if you were lucky
Yes i really do agree with this, but..................I just dont want to wait I just think the current gen has lasted so long and i have been caught up in all the excitement of E3 and have already pre ordered my PS4 lol I will probably get FIFA 14 on release day with my PS4 (which is kind of pointless) but not sure what other games i will get.
It does also depend on the release day prices for games, if they are £40 i will get FIFA and probably Watchdogs but if they £50+ i will have to wait a little while.
I am disapointed that GTA5 is coming out so close to the new console release, seems like a waste, i usually play GTA games for years so wont bother getting it on this gen and will wait for the inevitable release on the PS4
The graphics for Fifa 14 on PS4 look almost the same as the PS3 version apart from the 3D crowd. The game still has the "light" cartoonish look. Is this the best EA can do with NG hardware.
i was going to buy the ps4 on release but i think i will wait about 6 months let some of the bugs get sorted and i still have a lot of ps3 games i want to play
Anyone know if the current official bluetooth headset will work on ps4 rather than use the one that plugs into controller? Not saying I'd do that....just curious

A podcast I listen to was at E3, he asked people at Sony and oficially they couldn't confirm anything, but he seems to think it should be fairly straightforward for them to get them working.

We all thought IV was going to be great and while not shit, didn't live up to the hype.
With V, it's getting bought day one, but I'm trying to stay off the hype train this time.

I think he means the next gen i.e the 360 which came out early in 2005 i think (not sure)
San Andreas on Xbox came out March 2005, the Xbox 360 was released later that very year!
