IPhone 4S, what am it doing wrong

Treated myself to an iPhone 4S to replace my trusty 3GS, it came today and I have one little problem, I can't get the flash to work, it comes on as a torch ok but no flash, I've turned HDR off and flash on but nothing. Any ideas
