I've got a horrible feeling that he may escape a custodial sentence and just get a fine.

Do any of us not from the Pistorious thread actually give a shit?

I've voted for 'no sentence'. It would be splendid if not just to wind up half of DS.

No idea. It's not something I've given any thought too.

Is there a prize for those who guess the correct sentence?

I think he will get a suspended sentence. I really can't see them sending him to jail.

I voted between 4-6 years. I know I feel stupid.

He will get a few months, big fine, all his money and fame gone for a few years.

Then he will emerge with a book, tv presenter and a big Hollywood contract.

No, except if it's me, I might buy myself a chocolate cake.

Non custodial, unfortunately! I don't agree with the culpable homicide verdict, I think it was murder but this isn't the thread for that! So yes, I think he will escape prison.

I think, no matter what he gets, he will not be in prison in a week's time. Either he will get off without a custodial sentence, or will appeal, and then a bail hearing, then see you all back here in a year.

I presume the prosecution has had to wait till sentence is passed before filing an appeal?

If any custodial sentence his passed-literally any- his counsel will appeal and we will be here next year no further forward.

    Welcome to fame and money.

I voted the same - seems we all expect this as it's all turned out to be a complete farce.

The only reason I can think for them giving him a short spell in prison is that it may discourage an appeal. But of course it would have to be a special prison due to his disability and fame. Probably his uncles house. It will all have been prearranged ...

Yep, this is the most likely scenario.

    I agree.

How the hell does it take 3 days to sentence someone who was found guilty weeks ago?

    Non custodial sentence
I became cynical about the judicial system after watching the O J Simpson trial and if he can get away with it I think it extremely likely that Pistorius will receive a a non custodial sentence. Totally happy to be proved wrong though.
