meaning no other broadcaster was interested so back to BBC for less money.

yes the tail wagging the dog here - it was even the case that it might not have even been on the BBC during the weekdays too; It may even be the case that the BDO are letting the BBC show it for free.

still it is all in one place, which is good & its on a FTA station, which is good

sadly though this won't be for ever.

Not much of a ringing endorsement for the Championship that even BT - who are scrabbling for everything at the moment - didn't want it...

Well I for one am delighted the Lakeside is exclusively on the BBC this year. Like it always used to be and means I get to see every game, and this surely applies to many others too. The BBC has covered every BDO World Championship and I see no reason for that to stop.

The semis and finals of the Zuiderduin Masters coverage on Eurosport was a bonus too:)

Do we have proof that others turned it down or is it pure speculation ?

The final got around 2.3 million viewers on the bbc last year which is excellent BT are not scrabbling around for everything at the moment

No it isnt - it is the lowest recorded figure ever for a Lakeside final.

Although to be fair it was probably the worst Lakeside final for many a year so that may have got people turning off in droves (given 2.3m was the figure who watched the entire broadcast).

its good enough to put in the top 10 for bbc2 , its dropped from the 3 million it used to get
