It is curious, I have been checking all the AT 40 The 70´s shows aired in the last year and it has never been played a show from 1979 year.

Maybe because in 1978 AT 40 became a 4 hour show and any 1979 show does not fit with the 3 hour long format AT40 The 70s has.

    This weekend American Top 40 The 70´s is from november 3rd 1979 http://www.charismusicgroup.com/Cue%20Sheets/11-03-79.pdf !!!!!

Normally, they never play a 1979 show, this is the 1st one in more than a year!!!.

And, apparently, it has been condensed on a 3 hour show. It is known AT40 went 4 hour show in 1978 and in 1979 went back to 3 hour show format dued to the dance era tracks, songs that were axed in some editions because they were son long and did not fit with some radio formats of the associated stations.

In 1980 went back, definetely, to a 4 hour long format, as we know it in the 80´s and right now.

At the second hour the countdown was at number 22 ( when it is normaly at 27 in a 70´s edition) . So I think this one is one replay of 3 hours long....

I have to listen to completely, I only have recorded it from Canadian Forces Radio, online, earlier at 6 am today. I have the feeling I have lost one hour show!!!

    It's simply fascinating!!!

This weekend American Top 40 The 70´s is from november 3rd 1979

The original show was 4 hour long, but the remastered edition starts the show in the second hour, so that makes a 3 hour show.

That is the reason not many 1979 shows are remastered.

This morning my shite broadband provider fell down and I missed the 1st hour of American Top 40 The 70´s on CFN Europe.

So I have found these feeds for AT 40 The 70´s:

Times are UK time and all them online and not geolimited.

    Saturdays:

    The Valley 100.9 , Milton PA, 11.00 - 14.00 hours.

Cool FM - WMVL Meadville PA, 12.00 to 15.00 hours.

WCTR Chestertown MD, 14.00 to 17.00 hours.

102.1 The Oldies , Los Molinos, CA http://player.streamtheworld.com/liveplayer.php?CALLSIGN=KCEZFM excellent streaming, 15.00 to 18.00 hours.

The Kruz , Peterborought, ON, Canada, 18.00 to 21.00 hours.

    http://corusmedia.media.streamtheworld.com/player/Player.htm?id=ckrufm&city=Peterborough,Ontario&bdskey=4805&platform=DNNFM&active=true

    Sundays:

The Eagle, 106.9 , Fargo, ND

    http://www.jetcast.com/em-popup-esplayer.phtml?feedlink=2151

On CFN Europe the show is Saturdays 06.00 to 09.00

Canadian Forces Network Europe (CFN Europe ) online on Mp3 128 kbps

    http://www.europe.forces.gc.ca/tn-pb/lm-mg/cfn-rfc/cfn.asx

Time is Central Europe Time (CET ) which is an hour less in The UK.

    American Top 40 The 70´s , saturdays : 07.00 to 10.00 hours.

    American Top 40 The 80´s, saturdays : 19.00 to 23.00 hours.

    American Top 40 The 80´s (reprise), sundays : 14.00 to 18.00 hours.

As far as I have compared the shows with the same ones aired on online american stations, the shows on CFN Europe have not the mention of the commercial sponsor at the begining and no commercials at all. Only the news every top hour.

    http://www.europe.forces.gc.ca/Resources/Netherlands/Brunssum_CFN/Documents/sch-pro.pdf

The two last weekends of December are dedicated to charts of the years. So it is expected to have 2 top 40 charts of the year from the 70´s and 2 top 50 charts of the year from the 80´s.

Do you think this Xmas Day ( saturday) American Top 40 - The 70´s will take that Xmas special from Dec 22nd 1973 ?.

I wonder what MAR have lined up for Christmas Day? Their American 80's chart guy is probably going to do something. Do Americans do Christmas songs?

Very much so - many AC stations often 'flip' to an all-Christmas format on Thanksgiving Day right through until Christmas.

Yes, they do. In fact, some stations change all, their format, their web page, etc, just before Thanksgiving Day, axing regular shows ( especially the syndicated ones) .

They dont have Xmas songs in their current chart, just like The Official UK Top 40 does.

I have read in American Top 40 The 70´s/80´s Facebook that somebody was complaining about the axing of the shows because his local radio station took the Xmas format and have to look for another station.

If they take the AT40 Xmas Special, they dont need to axe the show...

But normally they do charts of the year the 2 last weekends.

We run Casey Kasem's AT40 shows from the 80's on Coast 103.2 here in Dubai and have been sent a Top 60 Christmas Countdown which will be in 2 parts.

Part 1 is dated December 11-12, 2010. I'm not sure yet if we are running this Christmas special or the regular countdown.

Thanks. That is possibly this coming Saturday show, concerning AT40 The 80´s. Which, I think , it has its premiere in Sirius XM Satellite Radio , Channel The 80s.

Thanks Neal, what time does Coast air Casey's 80's shows (and how do they relate to UK times)?

Excellent news, because I think it has to be the 1st station giving the show in the weekend, appart from the paid satellite offer.

    Taken from XMFan Forums:

American and Canadian terrestrial radio stations that have AT40 The 70´s:

    http://xmfan.com/files/at40_affiliates_911.jpg

The black ones have no a known stream and the red ones do have, but they are not all possible online out of The USA.

    Times are local.

There are more syndicated radio stations for AT40 The 70´s than for AT40 The 80´s.

That's correct. We decided not to run the first part of the Top 60 Christmas Countdown.

I am so happy to know there is another opportunity of having AT40 The 80s earlier in the weekend via The Coast FM.

I have recorded the show on minidisc , although I wait for it on CFN Europe on Saturday night.

In the past, when I had no internet I found so helpful the hit radio stations from United Arab Emirates via satellite, giving the American syndicated chart shows , like Rick Dees Weekly Top 40 ( Dubai FM), American Top 40 with Ryan Seacrest ( Channel 4 FM), etc. The sad thing is that those cool radio stations are not on satellite anymore. Even The Coast FM was on Arabsat satellite once... :(

There is not interest in European radio stations to take those syndicated shows, the last time Core Fresh Hits For The UK took AT40 with Ryan, they were repeating the same week show for weeks. Later the station left the satellite and finally closed .

Rick Dees Weekly Top 40, both Hot Adult and Hit Radio editions , start counting the hits of 2010 from next saturday.

You can listen online to both shows on www.rick.com ( 24/7 during the following week) or even via CFN Europe the Hot Adult edition : saturday 09.00 to 13.00 UK time, sunday 00.00 to 04.00 UK time.
