Installing iPod onto new computer

Hi everyone. Not sure if this is the correct place to post this. Recently I purchased a new laptop that has Windows 10. I plugged in the iPod into my new laptop and the iPod charged up without any problems but then nothing else would happen when I opened up iTunes. The icon to see whats on the iPod on iTunes didn't appear. I authorised the computer but that didn't do anything either. Have looked up on the other sites but couldn't really find a solution. Was wondering if anyone on here knows how to install an iPod onto a new computer?
