CH5 must be rolling in the money

To do two evictions without a public vote confirms that. Where did they get all the money from? It's not regular for a reality show to scrap the opportunity to get more money from voting revenue. What's the deal here do you think? Viacom involved? Planet of the Apes promo? Shedloads of money being given to them through the promotion of that?

Nonsense! Viacom won't want anything to do with this crap so no it has nothing to do with them! Why do you think they are making a ton of money from this & why do you think they need to? BB the show would have been sold to Channel 5 for sufficient to cover the prize money for each series. Channel 5 will make money from the advertisers during BB who will be happy to pay because of the BB audience so everyone is happy. Actual voting revenue is not relevant nor a major issue for them. Think about it, they don't make money off their app so why lose the revenue on the first power housemate too?

What do you mean? Viacom HAS taken over. If they didn't want 'anything to do with this crap', they wouldn't have taken over.

Definitely the bit in bold. Also the other day the HM's had a disco party and as soon as it cut to the ads, there was an ad about a disco album being released with Marcus narrating over it. I suppose it's an easy way to get money.

Again nonsense! Viacom do not own Channel 5 YET! They agreed to buy it in May but it has not yet been finalized but even if it had been there is a contract to fulfill which has been paid for!

I stand corrected if it has now happened, up to last week it hadn't. Viacom won't want BB that is for sure, if they do then they have gone back on what they said when their CEO was first interviewed by the Channel 5 news team when the news was announced!

I guess its like this. CH5 get virtually no viewers untill BB and CBB airs

Most peoples remote controls have the number 5 as the most unpressed button. The BB revenue has to last over 12 months, during the time CH5 have tumbleweed broadcasting

Well they do well with the aussie soaps I presume as they are popular. They do have occasional movies & the odd US series which are good. Granted they are few & far between but Viacom promise a new & exciting schedule so we shall see!

Yep, since found that out, I stand corrected. BB won't benefit from it though, anything to do with BB will come from Endemol not Channel 5. The only thing they get from 5 would be the schedules time slots & the original fee from the contract. Viacom have no choice but to keep BB for the remainder of this series, the series is already half way through & a contract is already in place. The fact that Endemol don't appear to be listening at all to viewers & seem set on doing their own thing, more so with each series & especially with this one, tells me that they know Viacom have no plans for BB. Why? Simply because they clearly aren't too bothered about the ratings as the viewers are switching off in their droves after seeing their complaints fall on deaf ears!

VIacom is still waiting for the EU to make a decision on their purchase of Channel 5. That's actually due today and the verdict will made public within the next 2-3 days at: http://ec.europa.eu/competition/elojade/isef/index.cfm?fuseaction=dsp_merger_by_date

The EU may decide to investigate the Viacom/C5 deal to see what effect it will have on other TV channels and advertising etc, if so that will delay things for another few months. Otherwise, they will just approve it and Viacom can take control.

Voting revenue probably makes them very little money, long gone are the days of a million votes a week. They make their money from the adverts and promotional tie-ins to the show.

I'm thinking the same. Since it became scripted a lot of the viewers probably don't pay to vote now, I know I haven't for several series ;-)

Advertising revenue which is how all commercial channels get income.
