Ignore it. Until we see a confirmed story nothing is correct. At the moment it is nothing more than press speculation.

Load of rubbish, a spokesman for the film company has said that he has not even considered his options yet and anyway the next Bond film is not due until 2018 at the earliest.

The reported meeting of Tom with the Bond people doesn't bode well for a Daniel Craig Bond in the future.

However.. I do still hope he reconsiders. If he doesn't.. this will remain his best scene for me:

Skyfall in general was absolutely terrific I thought, by far his best movie.

Shame if it is to be his last, I think I actually quite grew to like him in the role.

He has always fancied himself as a bit of a "luvvie" and a "proper" actor.
Now he has no financial worries,he will bash the Bond thing.

Yes the best Bond in years imho. Slightly let down by the ending but that scene in particular is outstanding for me. I think Skyfall was the closest Daniel got to connecting directly to Sean in terms of playing the role. I mean I think you could even switch out Daniel for the Goldfinger era Sean in that scene I linked and it would still work.

It may sound bonkers to even talk in that way but there was just something about the Daniel Craig bond and the Sean Connery bond that makes it so easy for me to believe they are the same character. Can't really do that with Roger for example. Although the car helped.

Personally, I do hope that it's true.

Roger Moore has said the media should leave Craig alone as he is still Bond, has not said he will not do anymore and until he (Craig) releases a statement to that effect, then he is still Bond.

Whether he stays or not, the Craig novelty has well and truly worn off. In years to come, his era will be regarded like the Star Wars prequels. People will pretend that they had never ever liked them, even though they were grossly overpraised at the time.

Massive amount of respect for Daniel Craig for turning down a huge sum of money to do more films that would surely be a law of diminished returns. I think he realises he has done everything he can do with the character and it is time to move on whilst he is on a high. The time is right to let someone else have a crack at doing it.

Casino Royale was by far and away the best of his films bringing a level of gritty realism and humanity to Bond that had never been previously seen (yes Timothy Dalton attempted this previously, but he was let down by poor films).

Craig succeeded in playing Bond like he is on the page. It was the best Bond film that had been made in years and for that alone I have massive respect for Daniel Craig. It’s just a shame the other films he did weren't on that level.

Skyfall might have made a lot of money and bizarrely pulled in rave reviews, surely more to do with Sony's ruthless marketing than the quality of the film. Sam Mendes cannot direct action. The cheap tacky Home Alone/MacGyver style battle at the end did not belong in a Bond film and was made even more comically bad by M and Bond's Scottish chum turning on a torch on the moor leading the enemy straight to them when they were supposed to hiding.

Somebody has made a Star Wars comparison above. I would say Skyfall was much like watching the latest utterly dreadful joke turd bomb in the Star Wars series -The Force Awakens another film that mystifies me way it was so critically praised. I’m sure Disney’s money and power had nothing to do with it. Same experience when watching it where everybody in the cinema afterwards had a look on their faces of "Well that was sh*t, why did b*llocks get such good reviews???!?"

I suspect Spectre got reviewed so negatively as a backlash against us having to pretend Skyfall was so amazing. For what it’s worth I liked how Spectre at least tied up the loose ends of the other Daniel Craig films and I think Craig knew the writing was indeed on the wall and it was time to call it quits.

Tom Hiddleston does appear to be the man of the moment and it would be great if the next Bond follows in the style of his performance in the Night Manager. Just hope he isn't hampered by having Sam Mendes direct yet another Bond.

I hope it's true. I love the Bond movies but I don't think I could stand seeing his cod-like fish face plastered across my t.v again. Very overrated in the looks department.

Are you joking,Casino Royale was awful,a bad version of the Bourne Identity

It was not a 007 movie in any sense of the word.

Thank god for Sam Mendes, because he put a little bit of the classic Bond back into the films

I liked Craig as a Bond, but all the films have felt too empty and full of window dressing.

I prefer Die Another Day to any of Craig's films.

    OK it works like this...

Casino Royale is based on a funny thing made from paper with writing on called a book. Apparently it was written by some guy called Ian Fleming, don't know if you've heard of him?

Bizarrely, most of the best Bond films are the ones that are based these strange things called books that were written by this chap.

Although I don't even think the original book version of Casino Royale is that good a novel, the fact is it gives the film producers something to flesh out into a film. Which I personally think they did brilliantly and created something special.

Whilst you may not agree with this opinion, to suggest it wasn't at all 007 when it was erm, heavily based on Fleming’s original novel is something of an odd thing to say .

I think the problem you have highlighted here is that age old question of the slightly more realistic gritty Bond of the books vs. the version of Bond popularised by the movies that was had more fast cars, more faster women, more fights, more gadgets and crazy stunts, more unrealistic but arguably more popular and is what people see as 007 now. Personally I can like both styles if they are done well.

    er. . . what ?

Quantum of Solace is a bit like Bourne in places , but not Casino Royale .

No one believes for a second this is the first time you've come across this opinion, so what's with the unconvincing attempt at surprise?

If true, I'm not surprised. The last one was kind of poor.

Was just reading some left-field suggestions and some suggested Matt Berry (Douglas from The IT Crowd) should play Bond (mainly as a joke) but to be honest I'd totally go watch that.:D

According to the Guardian Gillian Anderson thinks she should be the next Bond. Presumably not entirely seriously - it's based on a mock-up poster design.

The reported meeting of Tom with the Bond people doesn't bode well for a Daniel Craig Bond in the future.

The Bond producers, Eon Productions, are making at least one non-Bond film before the next Bond movie. So the fact that Barbara Broccoli is meeting actors does not necessarily mean it is for the next Bond movie.

As for the apparent deal offered to Daniel Craig, we can take it with a pinch of salt. Eon's distribution deal with Sony expired with Spectre. Until a new deal is struck, it's highly unlikely any contract would be offered.

The cynic in me believes that this "Craig-has-quit-who-will-be-the-next-Bond?" stuff is great free publicity to keep the franchise in the news and the public consciousness between movies.

Given that the second half of Casino Royale is a faithful dramatisation of Ian Fleming's first Bond novel, written in 1952, that assertion is, if you'll forgive me, tommyrot.

And the fact that he is the embodiment of the original character created by Ian Fleming doesn't impress you...?
