Nothing official, but very likely. I think ITV know that launching in SD would be a bad idea, they even launched ITV Encore in HD despite most of the content being upscaled

Thats interesting and UKTV wont launch a Gold HD, supposedly for the same reason, that there isnt enough HD content?
ITV are ahead of the game then, I know they are hiding their HD channels (except just bog standard ITV HD) behind a paywall, but at least they have HD versions of all their secondary channels!
I think other broadcasters need to look at that and consider HD even if the channel doesnt show up to 50% or more HD content, especially if their SD channel is a pay channel, like all UKTV channels are on Dsat!

    Oh my... Thats erm.... Vomitsville

Channel sounds like it too, isnt that what itv2 and 3 are anyway.
Is this another exclusive to sky like itv encore?
With the itv/sky friendship/shares ownership now ended, would not expect to see these channels exclusive anymore.

I thought only ITV Encore was exclusive to Sky and ITV Be will be on freeview and freesat in SD? Only the HD version of ITV Be would be a Sky exclusive with this one (unless they dont have a HD version which I doubt!).

Will it be available in HD?

ITV BE will be available in SD & HD.
The SD version will be FTA and also launching on Freesat.

The HD version will be a pay channel like ITV 2, 3 & 4 are, where the SD version is FTA, but you need a sub to watch it in HD.

ITV BE will have alot of new content (Mostly bought shows like that American Housewives shit) and TOWIE will move from ITV2 to ITV BE to clear ITV2 into a comedy/sitcom type channel with movies added into the mix.
ITV BE is aimed at women and will be full of reality shows and alike...

So ITV 2 could become a more rounded channel then attracting more than just females from 18-40 as that will now be ITV Be's job?

One of the more ridiculous logic denying moves of recent time.

In an ideal world Sky Sports News HQ (another pointless change) would be at 400 leaving the other Sky Sports channels to match their numbers in the EPG.

Sometimes it seems they just indulge in change for change sake.

EDIT - Indeed it might make more sense to treat Sky Sports News HQ as a de facto Sky Sports 1 and renumber the main Sky Sports channels as Sky Sports 2 to 6. Sky Sports 5 would remain as the Euro footy channel.

Does seem strange they did it like that.
400 and 300 have never been used though have they? Always wondered if there was a reason for that. As 200, 700 and 800 are.

Glad I don't subscribe, not a sports/Football fan but this is nuts, agree with the 400 logic tho', it does make sense

Completely agree, Sky should put Sky Sports News HQ on EPG 400 and sacrifice EPG 409.

A cunning ploy so that they can close sports channels without having to move SSN again

Or another step to specific sport branding of channels ie Sky Sports Golf.

    Or maybe not..

There's no sports channels closing, Infact they are adding one!

However Sport specific channels are there it just they probably don't want to rename just incase they either lose the rights to that sport or it loses viewers for those sports that aren't that sport because people think it's just for that sport if you get me

They wouldnt need to they have the same channels in SD and HD so all that would be needed is to sacrifice 451 like this:

    400 SSNHQ
    401 SS1
    402 SS2
    403 SS3
    404 SS4
    405 SS5
    406 SSF1
    407 SSNHQ HD
    408 SS1 HD
    409 SS2 HD
    435 SS3 HD
    436 SS4 HD
    439 SS5 HD
    440 SSF1 HD

I have written them down without the HD swap, but that will happen where required anyway.

You're wrong, Sky can't just add a extra EPG slot above the other broadcasters.

ah I see what your saying now so if they shuffled everyone up 1 number meaning Sky has 400-408 instead of 401-409 then no one looses the prominence of where they are.

It's hardly adding a slot, it's just shunting it down 1 number which doesn't make any difference to the order of the channels.
