Overly frequently repeated films

Look everybody - a Bourne film on ITV2! Now I like these films but it must be all of 20 minutes since it was last on. And ITV4 - Spartacus every other day???

Ok so maybe I exaggerate but why is it that a few films appear to be repeated almost endlessly?

Dante's Peak is on a lot. And the one about the divorcing couple who chase tornados - is it called Twister or is that a different film?

About 10 years ago there were the same films over and over again - I think it was one of the ITV 2,3 or 4 on a Friday or Saturday night

    Under Siege 1 and 2
    Jurassic Park series
    Die Hard series
Eddie Murphy films Trading Places, Coming to America, Beverley Hills Cops

They seemed to be in an endless cycle of repeats

You don't have to watch dirty dancing every time, do you.

Mind you, I enjoyed destry at the weekend.

Funny that. The original was called destry rides again. And the second film was called destry. How does that work?

I looked it up. It's the same plot. Remake.

I've noticed Superman seems to on a lot recently, and the Dirty Harry films (particularly the first two) seem to repeated regularly.

I am really surprised to have got so far down this thread and no mention of the:

'Back to the Future' trilogy on ITV2.

Granted, they haven't been shown for a few months now, but they usually seem to be on a loop.

Sure you list them all quickly enough, and it'll not change either. To find less observed flicks you have to look carefully among lesser channels like True Drama, Movies4Men, More > Movies, Horror, even the likes of Information tv and Film On though the prints are usually terrible, But not always.

Sky have Shaun of the Dead now, so not anytime soon, no sign of Hot Fuzz.

ITV2 seem to have about 10 films they repeat on a loop. There was a period where Terminator 2 seemed to be on there every single week without fail.

You can all blame Sky for this, not ITV, BBC or Channel 4.
Sky Movies have locked all the big US film studios into their usual "exclusively on Sky" contracts, keeping movies off FTA channels for four or five years which is much longer than we used to wait.

Very good example of this: Iron Man 2, a 2010 sequel release that Channel 4 aired on Sunday Night as a "network television premiere". Five years later, thanks Sky swine.

But it is the best film ever, and certainly gets the award for 'the greatest film that can ever be repeated on TV cos it just is'

I don't watch it every time it's on, but then I do dig out the DVD every so often as well. Never ever gets boring to watch, and is always worth a watch all the way through.

I have the VHS in the cupboard somewhere, I still watch the DVD and I have it on iTunes as well, just in case.

Nobody mentioned Mamma Mia which seems to be on practically every week! Also sometimes the same film is on twice in one week, just in case you missed it the first time.
