Eurovision week on strictly would be like my two favourite worlds colliding. :D Too many legitimately good songs this year though. :(

Wild Dances by Ruslana could make a very interestingly themed (read: utterly horrible) jive.

I think one of the european DWTS used a live version of teardrops by emmelie de forrest for a samba. The dance was kind of disappointing from what I remember tbh.

The producers could (COULD) I guess use our entry from this year as a charleston or a quickstep but the song should be fired from a cannon into the sun never to be heard again so let's hope that doesnt happen.

Have to admit that as a foreign fan of both Eurovision and Strictly, I actually thought that the UK song/dance was a homage to Strictly or something :D

Been thinking about mixing the two also, as for the 60th celebration it would be nice to have it represented on Strictly:

    1) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KiLw45oAuD0 (any fast latin dance)

    2) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aThxqF28OBo (a rumba, slowing it down a bit)

    3) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hkrF8uC92O4 (a Waltz or a VW)

Been looking up the British results and it's been since Sonia that an actual (100%) English singer achieved a placing in the top 8. The second song is also the last (UK) one to chart a top 10 position in my country (and all three songs charted in the UK top 10).

We have already had the skirt song two years ago and the last UK winner doesn't really suit a specific dance.

I like the tune The Shadow Of Your Smile (the love theme from the film The Sandpiper).

Most of the versions that i've heard have been slow, but i think this version is interesting because the arrangement is for a Cha Cha Cha; i think that it works quite well, & the dancers are Bryan Watson & Carmen Vincelj:

Alesha's new single 'the way we are' is getting a lot of airplay on radio 2. I'm not a big fan of her music but I like this song - it's very catchy, summery and a throwback to her Misteeq days.....it could be good for a pro routine.

I have always thought the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' theme would make a great paso song, surprised its never been used really seeing as we have movie week

Game of Thrones theme song is another one that could be used for a paso

    BIB i thought that too :) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s7L2PVdrb_8

Open Arms by Journey for a waltz - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2lLmYLw0WRI

I think "Real Real Gone" by Van Morrison & Michael Buble would be a good choice for a cha cha cha.

Also the piece of music used in some of the M & S ads (mainly the ones for food) is pretty catchy (unfortunately I'm not sure what it is called - maybe someone could enlighten me?).

I would also like to see more traditional music for some of the dances especially for the Viennese Waltz, Paso Doble and Tango.

The music in the M&S adverts is Rather Be by Clean Bandit. :)

Sticking with the theme of M&S advert music, there was one a few years ago with the likes of Lisa Snowdon and Dannii Minogue in it; and the song was 'It Had Better Be Tonight' by Michael Bublé. I might be misremembering it as being faster than it actually was, but in my head it sounds like it could be a Salsa?

I think I remember Kristina and Brian Fortuna doing a mambo to it, so it could be used for a salsa.

They used it to introduce the new pros last year!

Lengua by Beatriz Lengua is my jam at the moment. Is it too slow for a salsa, salsa experts? It seems bit light and laid back for a samba (which is the song the beat would suggest to me) but I guess it would depend on the theme. I just like sambas that have a really heavy, ballsy beat and bass to them!

I also like Dare (la la la) by shakira for a salsa.

This is why I never like the 70s disco sambas on strictly. The macarena was one of my favorite song choices though!

I'm still waiting for some Vitamin String Quartet covers to appear on Strictly; a few would make passable Tangos/Pasos/Argentine Tangos.

Also, Postmodern Jukebox has had some fantastic dance songs; I daresay a few Foxtrots, Quicksteps and Charlestons could be dug out. :)

I want more Argentine Tango to start off with. Added to that I want more Electro Tango like Tanghetto, Bajofondo and Gotan Project. Why are there not more Argentine Tangos I have a solution, cut down the frequency of the Charleston and add a few Argentine Tangos into the mix. I love the Argentine Tango but I don't want it danced by only 4 couples

Black Magic (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BM6w27puq_g) by Little Mix could make a fun Halloween Cha-Cha-Cha.

Also, horrendously cheesly as it is, Breathe Easy by Blue might make a pretty decent VW.

Megan Trainor songs are very danceable -
can see Kristina wrapping her legs around her Partner to "Marvin Gaye"
and Kevin doing something twee to "Dear Future Husband"

I find her songs too samey. The first one 'all about the bass' was ok, but I'm not impressed by the few others I've heard, and 'Dear Future Husband' is annoyingly twee which means it'll no doubt get used :(

Heard snippets of these on Sunday brunch - get stupid by Aston merrygold for a ccc, and come and get it by John Newman for a samba?

I'm pretty sure she just reuses the same beat over and over whilst singing different lyrics over the top.

I just want to someone to dance to "Take me to Church"

They wouldn't be able to out-dance the bad boy of ballet Sergei Polunin

I think we'll see a Cha-Cha to Shut Up and Dance by Walk the Moon and I Really Like You by Carly Rae Jepsen. I also suspect we'll see a Taylor Swift song, Blank Space or Bad Blood being the most likely candidates. Though I'd like to see a Viennese Waltz to Everything Has Changed.

Fun fact: All of those songs peaked at nr. 1 in the (UK) charts.

Has 'Runaway' by The Corrs never been used? If not, I think it'd be a beautiful choice for a Waltz.

    Very good shout :)

And so far I can see, it has not been used yet.
