Depends on the damage, but they'll normally attempt a splice first even if it's temporary and you then need a full new wire

When the engineer turns up, he will have no idea what kind of work needs to be carried out and will make an assessment when he is on site.

His job will be to get you back online and ensure all your services are up and running again even if the fix is temporary.

If you do need a repull, as Ben said this will be rebooked for another day as the engineer cannot carry around a complete install and service kit in his van and a repull is a two man job, not a one man job...... The date of the repull however can be booked to suit you though, so not that bad really

I had a similar problem recently when a builder managed to cut through the cable in two places. The engineer spliced the two cuts back together and everything has worked perfectly since. There was no charge but he did say that Virgin will charge about £125 for a new cable if they cannot fix the damage

Charge who?

I assume direct to the Virgin Media account holder who then has to try and get the money back from the building firm?

Depends. I know in the past Virgin have charged utility firms directly when they've broken stuff

It would seem logical that the subscriber is charged for the cost if the damage is on his property. If he then wishes to chase the builder/contractor responsible it is up to him. Not sure who should pay if the damage occurred on public property?
