If George Michael as did Macca got a pound for his performance, it was "night-light robbery."

Totally agree - the show would have been nothing without them. Fantastic achievement.

How many years did the event director have to create this closing ceremony? Sorry, I thought the closing was totally opposite to the classic intelligent opening and the stupdendous atmosphere, organisation and dramatic journey of the games.

It was rather like it was made by some Exec in the light entertainment department of ITV!!

Would have been good to have Sarah Brightman sIng Time to say goodbye as flame was extinguished to end proceedings.

Other missing big forces in British music over the years would have been Rod Stewart, Rolling Stones, Status Quo, Elton John. I'm sure Pulp could have done something too.

I'm rewatching it now, and once you get passed George Michael it really does pick up. I think they should've just had the athletes come in at the start, ditch the newspaper opening sequence and just had a roll-call of great British musicians/singers.

It's never good to have Sarah Brightman singing anything.

That really WOULD have had me reaching for the remote......
