Who has the strongest Manc accent on Coronation Street?

my vote goes to Sowpheh Web Store

Who do you reckon? Can anyone beat her in the manc accent stakes

I'm talking past and present characters too!

Sowpheh and salleh but honorable mentions to Audreh.

Although not in corrie, gilly who used to be in hollyoaks was the biggest Manc ever! He sounded exactly like the Gallagher brothers

Sue Nicholls is very well-spoken in real life; her Street accent is different. Same with Alison King (Carla).

    Marvellous actresses.

They are! Wasn't the actress who played becky quite well spoken aswell?

And sorry to bring hollyoaks into it again but jackie McQueen is probably the roughest sounding character in soap and sounds like the queen in real life :D as does the actress who played Mitzeee.

    And pat from eastenders!

Jez Quigley's accent was pure Manchester
Actor Lee boardman has the same accent in voice overs and other tv series that he's been in so it's probably his natural accent

It may or may not be a Manchester accent but I think Hayley Tamaddon as Andrea sounds fantastic...somehow she sounds like someone from the old days of Corrie

Without meaning to sound regionalist, I cant tell the difference in Yorkshire and Mancunian accents:blush:

    Liam Connor.

There aren't that many Manchester accents on Corrie, though there are several from Lancashire - Fiz and Chesney are from the same area. Hayley and Janice Battersby went to the same school - or rather the actresses did!

Karl used to have a good Manc accent, although I'm sure most would disagree.

I always the Gallagher brothers put on their own style Manc accent and a few of the younger members of the Corrie cast like Sophie copied it.

It's a bit of a broad statement and not entirely accurate but generally speaking, the Lancs/Mancs tend to clip their vowels whereas the Yorkies elongate them.

Carlas very manc sounding. It's not even her real accent. Sophie sounds very manc as well.
