On the whole I enjoyed this series, and the way they went through the Carry Ons in chronological order. CarryOn Behind was the last decent film of the series,so strange it wasn't mentioned. Don't Lose Your Head flashed past too. I don't remember a Peter Butterworth profile either! Jim Dale,Bernard Cribbins,Julian Glover,Liz Fraser,Angela Douglas etc were all very good. And Sid and his horse!

They did a little one that was somewhat linked with Kenneth Connor's as they formed a firm friendship outside the films and both their sons were shown looking through pictures of them.
I spotted that too, I loved that she even appeared in a Only Fools and Horses episode. ;-) and didn't they miss out Carry On Regardless as well as Behind?
They mentioned Regardless. Liz mentioned that it was everyone getting individual things to do, they showed a few bits of it, including her modelling the underwear and being shoved in the wardrobe, and she mentioned the last scene when they all got hosed down¬
The writer mentioned the real life agency - Housewife helps ( or something like that) that they got the idea from.

Tyler Butterworth is the spitting image of his dad.:D

It's a shame all those archives are just sitting there gathering dust which is just a total waste. My sons neighbour, now in her 90's was an actress and she's compiled her own book of archive history to give to her family when she passes away. She was in the Star Wars movie and her last role as a working actress was a fairly recent television comedy series in an old folks home (sorry i don't know the name of it or the comedian who played the lead role!).
A vision of elegance and beauty. She's only two years older than me....wouldn't mind being her 'toy boy' but she's married. Lives in Manchester.
Sally Geeson is exactly the same age as me and still looks pretty fit.

Very enjoyable 3 shows...life has been kinder visually to some more than others!

Yes,you're right, and that was quite moving. I watched Peter Butterworth's This Is Your Life on youtube a while ago, don't know if it's still there, very good. There's a short biography of Kenneth Connor out now,co-written by his son,Jeremy. I own,but have never watched Emmanuelle!
I enjoyed the first part, especially seeing the cast members, Bernard Cribbins, Shirley Eaton, Liz Fraser, Amanda Barrie and Jim Dale. Shame about Barbara Windsor not taking part. I wonder what the reason would be?
Tonight's episode is described as what some consider the 'Golden Era' although I prefer a lot of the later films from the late 60s and 70s up to Carry on Behind.
Did they show Carry on at your Convenience I always was thought that was one of the good ones
Yeah, they had some clips of it and mentioned how badly it did at the box office. The narrator seemed to think it was due to the "union bashing" in it, but maybe it just didn't come across right regarding the title?.
Personally, its a favourite of mine and we watched it again last night.
It was an interesting series. I always knew the Carry On's were made quickly and cheaply but I didn't know exactly how thrifty Gerald Thomas and Peter Rogers were. The highest single fee Kenneth Williams ever got was just £6,000.
I also didn't know that in an attempt to match the Confessions films they went went full on soft porn with Carry On Emmanuelle, that looked pretty bad.
Really enjoyable series. I liked the way they went through the films in order of release. Every film got mentioned except Carry On Behind. Really odd to just leave out one film. There must have been a story with Behind. It had Elkie Sommer in it. Surely there was a story behind why she was recruited. Nice that every regular was given a profile. I can't recall Joan Sims was not given a profile which I thought was strange.
Yes, Joan Sims was profiled in Part 1. I wish they'd included Carry On Behind as well, even if just to say it was Bernard Bresslaw's last Carry On or something. They spent far too long on England.
I like that one too. I read somewhere it was not a Carry On originally, but sort of became one at a late stage. Original title was Call me a Cab or something similar. I like the chirpy, melodic theme tune too, a nice change from the usual Carry On theme. Did you know you can get all the original themes on CD? Proper originals too - not cheap knock offs.

Funny how they wrote it off in the program. As now it quite often tops polls when people are asked their favorite Carry On.
I've never seen 'Columbus', I thought it was a mistake that they were trying to revive the series and so I avoided it. I don't think I've ever watched 'Emmanuelle' properly either as I've always read that it was pretty bad.
Columbus is pretty poor.
Only seen it once but it barely raised a smile apart from one genuinely funny laugh out loud moment. But one laugh does not make a film!
I always wondered if it has anything to do with her affair with Sid? In the documentary in the above link, I notice many of the actors commenting on how lovely Sid was - but not Barbara - especially Liz Fraser who stressed that his widow and family should be left alone to remember him as he was, a family man. Seemed awkward for her to say that and them Babs appears in the same doc!
Also there was a documentary on Carry Ons/Sid only a few years ago that included an interview with Valerie Ashton where it suggested that the affair wasn't as one sided as was perceived (from Barbara?).
Where was Barbara Windsor? One of the most famous carry on actresses still alive and nothing from her which was a shame. She always seems to enjoy talking about the carry ons.

That's right, 'Call me a Cab' it was, it's actually the last line of the film of course
Any reason why the Blu's have stopped, it's been nearly a year since 'Cowboy' was released.
Was hoping ITV3 might of got some new prints over Easter

The last 5 minutes give an unexpected suprise too.

Yes I remember seeing that. The people playing Sid James & Barbara Windsor were brilliant. They did repeat it a couple of years ago.
I recall the last 5 minutes,
Sounds like Waiting For God
Watching this now. Thanks for the link.
