Celebrity or Normal Contestant Quiz Shows

Will shows like Family Fortunes ever have another series with the public as contestants or will it now be permanently celebrities?
It seems at least half the time I see an old quiz show on TV that it is now a Celebrity episode - even the repeats on Challange are now celebrity.
Millionaire and Family Fortunes are two which seem to be more celebrity episodes than normal contestants now. Pointless, Wipeout, even Tipping Point is already getting the celebrity shows on.
Does a celebrity Millionaire episode say, bring in more viewers than a public one?
Hypothetically, if there were two Family Fortunes episodes on tomorrow at the same time and you had to watch one - would you go for the celebrity or public one?
It would be the latter for me, every time, which is why I rarely watch one nowadays.

However I would MUCH rather see an ordinary member of the public deservedly win lots of money through all their knowledge and hard work. There are some entertaining characters out there and the look on their faces when they realise they have won more money than they'll ever see in years makes for great television. I find it hard to care about a celebrity on a game show.
I shake my head in utter dis-belief of how long "All-Star" Family Fortunes has been on TV because it is absolute pap and the late great Bob Monkhouse would be turning in his grave to see a show that was a MAJOR hit under his stewardship as host be as bad as it is now under Bolton's "finest" in Vernon Kay.
Mr and Mrs is another show that should have NEVER let its format be tampered with let alone go "All-Star".
There are certainly quiz/game shows that for me would easily be worth reviving like Bullseye, Chain Letters, Winner Takes All, Blockbusters and Sale of the Century but the worry is having the "All-Star" element to it would make great TV and quite simply it would not!!
The minor B-listers who generally appear on these shows might be raising money for charity, but they also receive a fee for being on the programme, so why don't the producers just ditch all that, donate the cash to good causes, and just get on with the regular shows.
I agree, the contestant can be more involved when they know their getting to keep the money they win and sometimes their asked what they'd do with the money and so on, it makes me feel more keen for them to win, I think. Not that I hate charities or anything like that.
I'd been hoping they might have another 'regular' series of Family Fortunes but it doesn't seem like it?. I like it when we meet people we're not familiar with and they turn out to be right characters
If you want to see normal folk answering questions just go and sit in the nearest pub quiz one night !
I just like to see "well" known people struggle or reveal a skill.
I couldn't get into hells kitchen when it was members of the public.
General knowledge quiz's are better with members of the public. As more often than not celebrities show themselves up to be a bit thick. So that defeats the purpose a bit.
With shows like The Chase & Pointless, the primetime, celebrity editions tend to rate better than the civilian editions.
