Can a BT i-Plate/Accelerator interfere with a door entry system?

Hi all. I have a quick query for any telecoms engineers on here (or who are otherwise in the know). Basically my situation is I am currently living in a modern apartment block. The phone system seems to consist of 1 traditional "BT" phone socket and a secondary socket on the same fascia as the TV aerial/satellite connections. My broadband is supplied by o2 and the router is plugged into the "BT" socket with the provided filter. A landline handset is also plugged into the filter. There is nothing plugged into the secondary socket.
When I first moved in the broadband speeds were relatively poor (~3mb) but since installing a BT i-Plate this has gone up to just over 5mb. All would be good except I recently noticed that the door entry system to my flat doesn't seem to be working normally and was wondering if this could in be attributed to me fitting the i-plate? If I lift the entry handset you can hear/speak and unlock via the button, but if someone was to ring the bell it doesn't ring at either end. Only seems to be my apartment that is affected as far as I am aware.
The slightly worrying part is I disconnected the i-plate and it appears to still not be working. I am concerned that I may have in some way damaged the system by disconnecting the bell wire with the i-plate? Does this theory seem feasible or just a coincidence? It certainly looks like its running off phone cable but if it is it disappears into the wall rather than going to an outlet.
Presumably there isn't much more I can do bar ring the management company and just say its not working, but I am trying to pre-empt wether i'm likely to get handed a bill for the repair and/or wether I need to lose the i-plate and drop down to slower speeds
Thanks in advance.:)

The fact they use similar types of cable is meaningless. If you striped back some types of BT phone cable and ethernet cable you would be hard pressed to tell which was which.
