Luke Wright finishes the game for the Stars with 109*

Our guys are performing really well in this competition . Wonder how many of them will be involved in the T20 World Cup

76/1 at lunch. Things have slowed down somewhat with Compton at the crease but I'd rather he bats all day than have have a quick 25.

Looks very hot so it's likely the bowlers will tire

Some tight bowling from Morkel and Morris (surprised he has the new ball in front of Rabada)

Hope I'm wrong, but Hales just doesn't give that feeling of confidence in the Test match arena

Temperatures climbing. It's going to be a hot one

Pleased I got that wrong but he has made the most of his good fortune

Maiden 50 for Hales at 52*:)

Needs to capitalise and move on

Cook again falling rather cheaply, he has to start bucking up his form, as he is one of our weakest batsman so far on this tour.

One test and this innings... Definitely not time to be thinking or posting anything about him needing to buck up his form

Alison on TMS pointed out that half his runs today have come from nicks through the slips/gully area.......

So he's been pretty lucky to get to 50 !

Did she specify that they were nicks? I though t she just said that half had been behind square on the off side...

yes, that's what she said..........but you don't really aim to hit it through the slip/gully area if there are fielders there

Michael Vaughan just said he's been a bit lucky with a couple of edges that could have gone to hand since lunch

he appears to not be able to resist having a flash at wide ones...........maybe he'll settle down as he bats for longer

128/1 at drinks meaning we scored a healthy 52 in the first hour

Not listening to TMS so not sure what was said. A couple of Hales' boundaries could well have gone to hand on another day

Looks very hot and there is an open stand where loads of England supporters are sitting

They are going to be red raw at the close of play

    Joe Root riding his luck

Already dropped in the slips and now undone by Rabada's short one with the ball falling safely
    164/2 approaching tea

It was sarcasm aimed at Nick 'Viv' Compton. what was he thinking playing that big shot in the last over of the session.

I can't recall Chris Tavare ever playing like that in tests.
