Do you people spend all the time rescanning just to see if com8 or any channel is up and running?
Not all the time but I knew it was coming on yesterday morning so kept a close eye on it. Given the extra choice added, I think it's pretty safe to say that this really was one occasion when the switching on of the transmitter was by far the most exciting aspect of the whole affair.
I think the coverage checker has been updated, I'm now seeing a COM8 retune event for Moel-y-Parc with power and parameters listed. No specific date as of yet, just says 2015.
I think the most interesting thing is that COM8 is now running and has lots of empty space. Maybe we'll get some extra pop-up red button (HD?) streams for Wimbledon assuming the bandwidth hasn't been snapped up by then.
If there is all that empty space, why can't BBC put BBC4HD on it for the Reigate transmitter.
I cannot express enough my utter depression caused by not having access to Freeview right now. Not being able to watch QVC +1 HD is making me suicidal.
You'll simply have to wait a few years for the next DSO.
There's no certainty you'd actually receive COMs 7&8 even if they were added, reception is variable from one location to another.
The one thing we do know is that Comm 7 and 8 will not exist after DSO 2 ..
But it is hoped that by then there will be sufficient freeview HD equipment that as well as the frequency changes the UK DTT platform will go entirely DVB T2 AVC AAC ....
And that PSB will stop SD emission. ....
That was the last governments intent ... And bearing In Mind that 500 million GBP was allocated in the last budget .. It looks as if it will happen.
So look for a lot more channels and may be more HD. .

Well, the signal's there anyway. Not sure there's anything on it yet!

Can't speak for anyone else, but I find that a very small shell script can be a very useful thing, someone even made a T shirt about it ;-)

Oooh, I've just remembered Hannington should be running now...
<walks away to check>
Yep, COM 8 up and running ;-)
Angus - 5th June - C37
Darvel - 2015 - C37
Just seen that, my box checks and retunes itself. can't wait to see QVC in HD
Hopefully we'll get something decent to watch at some time!
BBC4HD is already on COM7, no need to put it on COM8 as well.
Please help.

Here on the Reigate transmitter we just get a barebones service.
No COM7 here.
I really wish I'd read your post before rescanning!
Rescanning proved to be a bit of a "move along, nothing to see here" moment for me.
My expectations are not too high.
