Why would anyone do that? If you watch it live everyday, then you just watch it live! Once you've seen it, you've seen it. Most avid EE fans know when it's on so will just watch it when it's on.
I series link EastEnders so I can watch when I come in. I usually watch live or a few minutes behind but it's on the same day if possible, rarely several days later if I can help it.
Hoping the England game hits the 10million target. Yesterdays late game got just over 3m and last weeks late England game got 5million. Hopefully the BBC can achieve double that audience tonight which would be a strong result.
Surely, all people care about tonight is that England win - not how many people are watching. And for the record - it will easily top 10m. Also, I presume this is your target plucked from thin air?!

No, it's the bbc's target. 10million coverage average and hoping for a 14.5million peak.
If you look at the England World Cup ratings lewiep posted, you will notice many matches not shown in primetime in the past have averaged around 12million. So the coverage average based on that is about 10m.

No. James said he watched live at Christmas. I suggested it was because the schedules were strong at Christmas so asked if, the schedules were strong and varied all the time, not just at Christmas, whether he would watch more TV as broadcast live.
For the avoidance of doubt, and misinterpretation:
As I said, I believe PVR's are being used because the offerings the broadcasters provide between 7-9pm are unappealing. Channel surfing and recording shows from other lesser channels are used more because of the lack of quality on offer.
OK, so you don't feel that, at those times, PVRs are used primarily to timeshift material broadcast at a less convenient time (either for the family or for other programme clashes). I disagree. But neither of us has to hand any definitive or compelling evidence either way, so perhaps we should leave it at that.
But one thing is certain, the timeshift/on-demand genie is now out of the bottle, and everyone (broadcasters and schedulers included) need to acknowledge that fact
Forgive me Samuel - but do you have link for this?
I do have a source at the BBC who I cant name. 15million peak, to be perfectly honest with you, is the target [i said 14.5m in my last post as an underpredictor].
Robbie Savage, who is a football pundit, is predicting a peak of 15-20million but he has a pretty bad track record of predicting audience figures.

I think the more I explain, the more my view is being misrepresented, not deliberately, but nevertheless, I think I did say that during the times of 7-9pm, PVR recordings of shows from previous days or channel surfing is occurring because of the lack of choice on offer from the mainstream channels. Of course catch up is happening, but my point is that it's because of what the broadcasters are showing that is the cause of the growth. I agree, broadcasters need to acknowledge it.

What about the score? I predict 1-1 draw. Boring I know, but both teams are about as good as each other.

Its gonna be a comfortable victory for Italy, much better than us - we couldnt even beat a 10man Honduras last week. The member Salv's gonna have mixed feelings on here tomorrow imo: happy for the Italy win but BB ratings look doomed tonight.

I don't think Italy will win at all. I reckon a 1-1 draw. BB will be doomed anyway, I don't really mind. The pick up from BB starts tomorrow night

I think the English FA have little confidence in the English team. If we lose, we know they are going to blame it on the pitch! That's all they've been talking about all week. A decent footballer should be able to play the game anywhere - as long as it's flat!
What about the score? I predict 1-1 draw. Boring I know, but both teams are about as good as each other.
My ratings predictions have been shot to beggary this week, so not that it's worth much, but I think England will win despite Italy being the better team. The England team know they'll get absolutely slaughtered in the press if they don't get out of the group, so that'll spur them on.
I'll go for 13 million for England tonight. However, the really big rating will be next Thursday and could give ITV its biggest rating of the year( or possibly the last game if England have to win this). I think the World Cup has been a blessing for ITV as they often struggle between the two Cowell shows and a peak of 11 million on Thursday was excellent.
I think that's an ambitious number, it should be around 10m I reckon. But after two days The World Cup has had great ratings for primetime matches and anything is possible ratings wise when it's an England match.
ITV will get great ratings for the England group matches. 16/17m for the Thursday England game?

Or, England put on a lacklustre performance tonight and everyone gets fed up and Holby City gets 16.5m viewers! (I love my alternate universe!)

# indicates a full-slot rating on a main channel (1-5) where the programme did not run to time and therefore tape-checking would make a difference. Other channels are never tape-checked in the overnights. Where figures are given to one decimal place (or shares to one percentage point) that is the most precise rating I could find.

Reposting this post of mine from earlier incase anyone missed it. Below are how previous World Cup England matches have rated since 1982. Took AGES to format!
The figures come from The Stage Archive, Lexis Library, BARB and from the thread archive. Between 1982 and 1990 it seems that BARB only published averages for the broadcast rather than the match average but these are the only figures I can get. I've included the match averages for the 2010 tournament as it gives a much wider picture in my view. Happy viewing!

I genuinely can't call tonight's rating. The share will be pretty big but I have a feeling it'll average 12 million.
I'm going to go with a 11 million average for tonight's game.
Stand By Your Man didn't do very well last night for Channel 5. A shame really, as it looked like it had all the ingredients to capture the BB audience. I was expecting it to cling onto all of the Big Brother audience as it was sandwiched between the two eviction shows. It looked like a fun dating show like Take Me Out, and that does well for ITV.
It has nine episodes left so maybe it's a grower, it doesn't look like it should scream a flop to me.
