How do you apply fake tan properly?

I am not sure if this is the right section

I didn't want to put it in advice because that is the section for emergencies.

I have picked some up from Savers. St Morris I think it's called. In a white bottle and comes out a brown colour and smells lovely.

I have my marigolds as you shouldn't get it on your hands apparently. Does it matter where I start first? I want my chest to be the darkest so do I put it on my chest first and then do it in corresponding order? Bit I want darkest first and bit I want lightest last?

I have heard that you can get mits to apply the tan but that just seems ridiculous and the pair I do have are very expensive and of sentimental value.

How long do I leave it on for?

I don't want to stain my bed sheets as I only changed them today.

Sorry to ask so many questions. I am a noob to fake tan.

I'm intrigued to know how the sentimental value to tanning mitts came about :D

It's a very long time since I've fake tanned. All I can remember of my distant tanned days is....

    ALWAYS exfoliate first.
    and
    ALWAYS moisturise

Else you might go a bit streaky.

    Hope this helps :)

Yes,as Joni said, i am wondering how/why you become attached to a tanning mitt??? ...are you male or female?...and do you really think applying fake tan with marigolds is a good idea? ...they have ridges and patterns........you may come out all dappled...think badly applied Ronseal on a plank of wood :o .
If you are serious about this i suggest you google it........i feel another post may be appearing in the morning otherwise :D

I didn't know there was any such thing as a tanning mitts. I just assumed it meant normally mitts you would wear if the weather was cold.

I thought it would have come with instructions.

I haven't got any gloves so I will just have to use marigolds.

I need it doing because I look like a pasty and have a fancy party to attend tomorrow. I was hoping my mate who has a spray machine to do it but she is really busy and couldn't fit me in today.

    Streaky?

I haven't exfoliated. I put some sudocream into my creases though. I am waiting for that to absorb before I put the fake tan on. I thought my mum would know something but she has never used fake tan either. I need her to do my back for me and then I can do the rest. Do you apply it to your private areas as well?

I suspect the future of this thread is bright and orange like the old mobile phone advert.

    Leave it in the bottle.

It looks awful on humans. Always.

    Wear old clothes
    Wash hands thoroughly
    Clear area of all items
Pick up bottle slowly and surely using a towel or dish cloth
    Open bin
    Throw it in the bin

I have already done my chest.

I think a nice tan looks lovely and I think it will make me more handsome.

Where's the bit about how you apply it?

I think I am doing it right anyway.

    :D

I have to say I'm inclined to agree, it is rare I have witnessed a decent self applied fake tan. Be extra careful if you are quite pale OP, as that is a particularly dark one it seems.

I got the meduim colour not the dark one and I got it from Savers not Boots.

Oh dear.........I can see tears before bedtime [as me Gran would say lol]

You really really should have prepared your skin first.

As for the private areas, I guess it depends if anyone is going to see them. Are you planning on pulling at the party. And what are you wearing [nosy ain't I? lol]

Also you might want to put old sheets on your bed for tonight. I had a byf once who used fake tan when he went clubbing .......his pillow cases and sheets informed me of this despite him denying ever using it when I asked.

I didn't take a before picture but I can find a normal one of me.

I will just crop the face.

I'm not too sure how long I should leave it on for. I'm going to colour my hair and then I think I will wash it off.

I now have an image of pulling someone in fake tan and ending up covered in it too.

I don't know if I will pull. Maybe. Depends if I see anyone I like.

I think I am going to wear my new boxers I got from Primark yesterday. They were only 20p! In the 20p bin. Bargain!. Some black jeans. If I can fit into them. Last time I couldn't do the button up. lol. And a nice top with a zipped hoodie in case i get cold.

Does it not say how long to leave it on for?

What colour are you doing your hair?

How long does it say to leave it on for? I would go with that.
