I have had a nokia 6630 with 3 for the last 12 months and have had a sony ericsson k750i for the last month with O2 pay monthly tarif because i was going to cancel my 3 account,but I upgraded to a sonyericsson k800i with 3 with a fantastic tariff. I want to take my 02 mobile number and use it on my 3 account. I know I need to call 02 and get a pac number and then give it to three.

is it an instant thing or does it take days/weeks to transfer

But you may need to add a couple of days for them to send the PAC number through the post as some don't give it over the phone and some do????
Yeah 7 days is the normal time frame for a port over.
5 working days is effectively the same as 7 full days, though makes more sense to quote the 7 days to save any confusion.
I believe it is ofcom regulation that port in/out must serve the obligatory 7 days duration rather than the networks imposing this timeframe.
