If you 'unfriend' someone on Facebook, will they get to know? It's just daily I get loads of twee crap from a Facebook 'friend' and I don't want it.

Only if they actively look at their friends list and see that you are not their friend any more!

If you are worried about offending them, you can remain their friend but block them. This means that you'll no longer get their inane drivel on your wall, but you have not taken that potentially inflammatory 'unfriend' step!

They won't get actively notified but they may notice. An alternative is to 'block' this person, you will effectively disappear from FB from their perspective.

If I disappear they will notice if I block them. I thought I could block them and not get their twee shite, but as far as they were concerned I am still a 'friend'?

Just "unfollow" their feed. You won't see anymore of their drivel on your wall but will remain friends with them.

That won't stop the person posting on the OP's timeline though.

Put them on a restricted list so they can't post to your wall and unfollow them.

I'm sure he's on about the clutter on his newsfeed.

I've got an add-on called Facebook purity on my browser and tells me if I've been unfriended or an account deactivated by somebody.

Can you do that on an individual basis though?

Yes but the OP wanted to deal with this one individual without unfriending them.
