Following on from the thread about those lucky people of Wazza who got The Andre, who is turning on your towns lights this year?

Lucky old us, we got Toby Anstis and some bloke who got voted out of the X Factor on the first week. We were supposed to have Amelia Lily but she was too big a star ;)

Worth every penny of my council tax I reckon

we dont get a second rate zeleb, in fact we dont even get a third rate zeleb. We get Santa! No doubt someone on the local council lost a bet and is about to hire a santa costume:mad: Literally no expense was spared for the lights, none!

In 2008 it was Paul Potts, I guess he took the budget for the next 5 years

Belfast got Justin Fletcher aka Mr Tumble who I thought was a fantastic booking. He's the superstar of children's tv. :) Fantastic at what he does.

No slebs round here - all the local lights are being switched on by random councillors aided by various other nonentities.

I want Mr Tumble! *stamps foot and puts on sulky face*

Celeb??? We should be so lucky. Despite the fact about 90% of the z list live in Brentwood, the council can't even manage to pay out for a Jodie or a Kirk, let alone Pixie Lott. No, we get the Mayor.

Though a few years ago, they blew the budget and got Gloria Hunniford - though it coincided with her bringing her book out so we got a book signing thrown in as well

Toby Anstis??? Was he pretending it's his local area like he does round the rest of the country?

Lucky Newcastle! He also turned on the lights in Derby - but I'm not sure if wasn't a shopping outlet.

We don't have anyone turning our lights on - apart from me when we do the decorations! :D

No celeb of the magnitude of the Blessed Peter, or indeed those mentioned above.
Perhaps the council is worried that we'll get over-excited and start rioting (again).

Life can be so unfair
