Oasis aren't even the most influencial band of the 90's, hell they aren't even the most influencial band of their genre.

Who do you think are more influential? Blur?

Oasis's 90's material was excellent but they went downhill and neither Noel or Liam have had good solo material

Michael Jackson - "Thriller" and "Bad" for their music videos and thdm Sisters With Voices Remix.

Oasis - Way too many to pick from, I find I like newly discovered songs of theirs every few months!

Elvis - "A Little Less Conversation", "Hound Dog" and "Love Me Tender."

Beatles - "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds"

Who wouldn't have even happened if it wasn't for The Beatles...one very good album does not make a band the best.

Based on the versions with the Royal Philaharmonic Ochestra alone, Burning Love and If I Can Dream are the best songs by any of these artists

Oasis - I really like their more unnoticed stuff then I do their famous hits. I never did get to see them live. They are now all broken up.
    Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds.
    Beady Eye.
    Liam Gallagher.
    Noel Gallagher.
Out of the two, I must say I think Noel is a better singer. However Liam has just brought out a new album and I am willing to like his music.
    Too many to list.

The Beatles - I am now starting to really get into them. However most of the stuff I like seems like solo stuff from Paul McCartney and wings, his solo stuff or John Lennon and his miserable wife.
    Yellow Submarine.
Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds.
    This is Christmas.
    Ebony and Ivory.
    Let It Be.
    Imagine.
I recently discovered one of Julian Lennon songs, he sounds like his Dad!

Elvis I have always been a huge fan of...
    A Little Less Conversation.
A Little Less Conversation (JXL Remix).
    Always On My Mind.
    Heartbreak Hotel.
    Hound Dog.
I Can't Help Falling In Love With You.
    Jailhouse Rock.
    Love Me Tender.
    Suspicious Minds.
I heard he didn't really make his own music or lyrics? It is a shame how he died.

Michael Jackson and (The Jackson 5) was the reason I started to enjoy music, again it was a shame how it ended, He should have been collaborating with all the up and coming stars and big hitters but it seemed he stopped wanting to sing.
    Bad.
    Another Part of Me.
    Beat It.
    Billie Jean.
    Dangerous.
    Dirty Diana.
Don't Stop 'Till You Get Enough.
    Earth Song.
    Give In To Me.
    Leave Me Alone.
    Liberian Girl.
    Man In The Mirror.
    Remember The Time.
    Rock With You.
    Scream.
    Smooth Criminal.
The Way You Make Me Feel.
    They Don't Care About Us.
    Thriller.
    You Are Not Alone.
    You Rock My World.
Right Here (Human Nature Remix - Sisters With Voices)
    ABC.
    I Want You Back.

I like them all for very different reasons. I like Oasis and Co as I have all the songs but am yet to listen to them. I feel I learn new lyrics and new loves for songs I hear for the first time etc.

Can't believe this thread has resurfaced!

There will never be one clear answer as everyone has their own favourite artists etc.

Those mentioned are among the greats of their respected era and they will always be legends. Although I wouldn't class Oasis as being up there with MJ, Elvis or the Beatles.

What about Frank Sinatra or Bing Crosby? they were also huge stars in their time. Even before Bing and Frank, there was someone like Al Jolson who was a probably the first big international superstar of the 1920's.

I think you can certainly say that. When The Beatles burst on the scene Elvis had become a very safe , basically a crooner with songs like Wooden Heart, Its Now or Never, Are You Lonesome Tonight etc. The charts pre and post Beatles are almost chalk and cheese, all of a sudden there was a beat, an electricity, a lost innocence maybe, ushering in the swinging sixties with a wave of new musical styles. Music was never the same again.

Elvis is unique, his image, influence, performance, chart stats etc are welded into human history for all time. However life is all ifs and buts, Bill Haley preceded Elvis in creating the image of Rock and Roll, had he been younger and perhaps crucially (without wishing to be unkind) had the looks we might not be talking about Elvis in quite the same way now.

you do realise that most oasis songs are mediocre rip offs of the beatles, the rest are mediocre rip offs of slade and status quo :p

The argument is very daft, you act like the beatles had NO inspirations at all... like they created all the music in the world as a pedestal to ALL other groups.

Of course The Beatles had influences, but they took things to a new level, achieved heights of popularity that will never be equalled, they influence guitar bands to this day, and what they recorded, and did, insuch a short space of time is simply phenomenal. The progress from their first album to their last makes them look like different bands, yet they did all that in around seven short years.
