Can anyone recommend a good service for converting SMS to e-mails. I have tried a couple and they are OK but are notable by their disclaimers of 'messages not guaranteed to be delivered'! I have a Siemens C35e mobile if that is of any use!

If you can send international text messages (normally cost the same as domestic ones - I can't do it on Virgin), go to http://www.excell.to. I use Iobox.com at the moment, which appears to be fairly reliable.
