If 5 wont even buy it to stick on 5usa there's no way it will appear on any other freeview channel. Better off just downloading it.

I don't suppose Channel 5 showing repeats of season 2 means they've changed their minds?

It's bound to be at some point, but if your interested in seeing it now then it's currently available on US Netflix if your ok with using a DNS service.

Why can't a 'proper' channel get the rights?

They could have but the ratings were poor on Channel 5 so another channel probably didn't want to 'waste' the money.

Suppose it was somewhat inevitable, but it's good news though.

Hmm I might get Netflix for season 4 if RTÉ doesn't decide to pick it up as well.

It was Channel 5's fault the ratings were bad.

I'm pretty sure they gave it a good run at a decent time, at first at least. They've generally started shows well but poor ratings lead to a change.

Sundays, 8pm if I remember correctly. Right up to the end. (I think one week got pushed forward or back an hour which upset some folks without a DVR that automatically compensated :)

There was a drop in ratings, but it was still one of their best performing import shows. Lots of people have stated ratings as the reason, but I don't think that's the whole story. A couple other shows (imports) were dropped at a similar time.

They didn't treat it that well, I remember one Easter it was dropped for a cruddy repeat movie that had been shown 84758993 times already :)

Other shows like walking dead and sons of anarchy were due to ratings vs cost afaik. In the case of walking dead, it was the 2nd uk broadcast after Fox and usually a year later due to the Fox rights, take into account torrents too it males sense that they tried to drop it. The outcry from terrestrial fans plus a different way of funding helped bring that one back.

A proper channel HAS got it. I'd put faith in Netflix over any of the other networks out there.
