Bev's dead brother preventing Deirdre from attending Tracy's wedding. Beyond words.

Was it really beyond them to think of something more compelling to keep her away from her only child's wedding ? Or just have her there but out of sight.

Even I could come up with something and I am no script/storywriter.

Why not put Deirdre in hospital with something non life-threatening? Have her break a leg or something so she can't attend but there's not a need to cancel the wedding.

In the case of a mother missing her daughter's wedding there has to be something physically stopping them for it to be believable. Worst absence since Diggory skipped Molly's funeral as he was "too upset".

A hairy fruit or a giant rat? No. It's a dead mother. You just can't beat Corrie comedy.

Deirdre missing the wedding must be one of the biggest SOR's of all time. The actress must be ill or have some really pressing family matters to be allowed to take an extended break and miss Peter's court case and her only daughter's wedding.

How old is Lily meant to be and how old was that child sitting on David's lap?

Callum hasn't seen Max for years (if at all) and yet he knows which child to call over to his car! It's hardly as though he bears a striking resemblance to his dad :D

I haven't watched tonights episodes yet, I'm just flicking through the thread to see what's happened so far so I don't know who the child on David's lap is, but Lily has just turned one a few weeks ago. :)

School Children are not allowed off the premises unless the teacher has seen whoever is collecting them so no way would Max be out the school gates unattended and as a year three pupil of 8 years old he'd be well aware not to approach an unknown man in a car, they teach stranger danger from nursery upwards. How hard is it to do basic bloody research, they dont just ring the school bell and let the kids pile out anymore. Kylie was late so Max would have been kept in by his teacher till she turned up.

while quite. if my son had done that, i'd back the adult up, and if i had thought they'd overreacted a tad, have a word with them later. not totally undermine them and make my kid think he can do what he pleases.

and if someone told me i needed to apologise to their kid for shouting, i'm afraid my reaction would be 'my arse.'
I would be tempted to show mine to Maria. :D Flaming cheek!

It is a bit creepy. I almost preferred her dragging him by the ear.

It is beyond stupid. They should have made her "have a breakdown" and be unable to attend.

Lily is one. The child on David's lap - Lily - was nowhere near one.

Maybe it's a clue that the wedding isn't going to go ahead!

I don't care how rough that pub is but the sight of Callum handing over the drugs at the counter to Kylie in broad daylight and in full view of everyone and then Kylie calling him a drug dealer in earshot of all the customers was very jarring.

Pretty much! Annie Walker last appeared in 1983 and Liz McDonald first arrived in October 1989. I guess people might still have been referring to her at that point, but it's 31 years ago so a lot of people wouldn't know who she was now!

Which would also mean Liz wouldn't have a clue whether the Rovers ever sold bottled mild :)

Well, going through the thread, it's seems we all think the same on how utterly ridiculous the scripts are
Dreary missing Tracy's wedding, as others have said, what's wrong with saying she had broken her leg, done her back in or something similar, that would have been better than the excuse they gave.
Having said that, I do hope in real life, there is nothing seriously wrong with Deirdre.

Then Max going right over to the car to speak to his never seen before dad! Yes, he wouldn't have been allowed out of the grounds without his parent present.

I thought it was pretty off that the 'community Center' was serving teas, scones etc. Roy allowed his caff to be used to store books on show yet this is how he's repaid. Or are we not supposed to think about that.

BIB Yes, I thought that was a bit off too. It looked to me like more than scones might be on the menu too. Did you notice how many salt and peppers combo's were sitting on the counter? Although I'm sure I only saw a couple of tables. There was a jar of Dolmio on the shelf as well, which seemed odd, I mean, if you were making pasta dishes for customers, you'd need more than one jar. The community centre is yet another tardis like space that Corrie specialises in.

Agreed. That and Tina's mum not being at her own daughter's murder trial!. Lazy, couldn't care less, sloppy writing. Who the f#ck is sanctioning these stories?

I'm surprised they spent all that time on the trial and the sentence itself is off screen and got a 10 second mention. Surely Tracey would have been there considering she didnt look too busy.

Fix had asked Yasmeen 'will I ask Roy to make everyone sandwiches' like 10mins before the Community centre opened. Then we see Katy standing with a plate of sandwiches like she was hired to hand them out. Who is footing the bill for this. And they need a pompous sweaty overweight local councillor in the Alf/Fred role. Maybe Audrey and Rita could fight over him.
