To be honest, I am not bothered if Jack Sparrow skippered the boats between shots. I find the series compulsive viewing, educational and the scenery ain't half bad either.

I am a little sad to see Pru deterioration though.

    A most enjoyable series.

I think Tim and Pru have been lovely in all these series and have done so well to make the various trips on canals home and abroad. Certainly there's been a little tv magic to ease their barging voyages but its so much fun to see them all around the UK. :)

What a nice change from all the - reality egomaniac nonenties / sci fi monsters / gruesome dead bodies / troubled cops / food porn / yoof behaving badly - delete as appropriate, shows that we are subjected to most of the time. Well done to Channel 4.

Funny you should say that. Tim's 'Life stories' episode is either the last of the series or near the last because that keeps getting put back - first for football this friday and next friday is I'm a celeb, which I certainly class as reality rubbish. (all reality shows are rubbish to me, never watched one of them) The earliest it would be on is Nov 27. And there was me, when this series started, thinking he'd be on early in the series, which I think started in September!

Bet Pru was glad of the electric/hydraulic lock gates, although she did seem a little flustered at the control panel at first.

Nice ending to the series, shame there were only three in it this time.

I love this little programme too. It's restful and I love the countryside and waterways. Prunella does well really but I guess it's many years experience.

What a great episode last night. It's the only one I've caught this series.

How lovely for Tim to find his ancestors in Ireland, and their home, too. Ireland is such a beautiful country.

I'm pleased to see there will be another series also.

According to my Digiguide, it's not listed as being on TV any time soon. (I can search by episode name, cast and synopsis.) So I shall check in about another week. Typical it's elbowed out by footer and Z list sleb rubbish.

I think that's pretty much what happens - Tim and Prunella skipper when cameras are rolling, then someone else takes over. But, like you, I don't think it matters in the slightest.

I only mentioned it because several people appeared concerned about the physical strain that Prunella seemed to be put under. I'm sure that's not really the case.

She's such a tiny little thing! But worth remembering they've been taking canal holidays for decades.

It's always lovely to see Sam in this. I'd never seen Juliet before, though,. Ben looks a bit like Sam!

Just watched latest episode, I miss them already.... :( but:

It seems they will come to Sweden in a later episode after all! :)

Anyone UK based have any clue when the Swedish episode will air?
Probably the last ever, considering Prunellas poor health.

Sam West was on C4's Sunday Brunch a couple of weeks ago and said that they are currently making a new series.

Bit difficult to believe they are making a new series in the middle of winter. Unless they are just in the process of planning it, of course.

... and also taking Prunellas health into the equation. Tim have been rather frank about her deterioration recently. It's sad to read.

I found a note on a Swedish site re. the Swedish 'Göta Kanal' travels they hinted about after episode 3 (and still not shown), it appears (according to this article) that it will air in autum of 2016, I presumed one episode, but they talk about episodeS there.
Should be interesting to watch and this have already been recorded of course.

It was mentioned in the paper today that there'll be a 4th series which will have them exploring Venice.

Really looking forward to this new series. Sure to be the joy the others have been.

Loved Sam's comment that they'll be running out of canals to visit soon! lol Hopefully that's all that would stop the series happening! :)

The only disappointment about this lovely series is that no one thought of asking them to do it years ago! After all, they've been doing it for decades.

I loved watching Waterworld, the series Tim presented, from about 15 years ago (ish). (which I first saw when it was repeated about 6 years ago) That was the first time I saw the West canal boat, when in one episode they showed Sam using it when he was appearing in a theatre nearby so he stayed on it.

Indeed, these series are made all the more poignant as it's clear they are on 'borrowed time' given Pru's condition. Although, hopefully making these programmes actually helps her by giving her something to focus on and keep busy with. That is something that's recommended for anyone with similar problems (provided they are properly supervised).

Loving the start of the new series - the Juno looks great and the scenery is fabulous!
