So Shughie was a latecomer. Naturally, all before my time.

There was another older cook in original crossroads. Haven't a clue what his name was. And a dark haired lady who used to work in the kitche wih Shughie and Amy.

Also, does anyone remember the cooks in the two remakes? There was a Gordon Ramsay clone and possibly a younger gay cook.

I know many members will find this a shocking revelation, but was it possible that the original Crossroads' cook Shooey McPhee was gay?

Also, didn't they have a gay cook in XR2 or 3? Or was it a grumpy Scottish bloke?

He probally was but that kind of thing was never mentioned in those days!:D

Mr Lovejoy, very grand with that three foot tall white chef's hat! :D

Ah, that was it, Mr Lovejoy, a real antique!

    Fond of mullet, I think.

I think most of the characters who worked at the motel are in photographs on: www.crossroadsmotel.co.uk

And the Motel Staff Whos Who who on the CAS site.

I'm not sure, but I have deep suspicions about Hugh & Meg Mortimer's wedding chauffeur.

Around the same time, there was also the supremely camp Mr Booth, who accompanied Mr Lovejoy and Shughie in the kitchens...

Ah yes, I had forgotten about the very camp Bernard Booth with his withering 'looks' and scary glasses.

He was so limp he made Shughie seem like Rambo.

You'll tell me Larry Grayson had a 'part' next, popping by to take tea and cream horns with his Nollie.

Err yes he did. Who did you think I was referring to as Meg's chauffeur? :D

I stand corrected on the spelling of the XR's cook's name:

Shughie McFee was played by Angus Lennie, born in 1930 and I gather still with us.
And he starred, of course, in one of the greatest films ever made - The Great Escape.
