If you had started this thread a week ago my answer would have been one cat.
We unfortunately had to say goodbye to our beautiful little black cat on Thursday.
But our loss is Bubbles' gain 'her sister'. I miss you both so much 😿😭

None of my own, l started off just feeding the hedgehogs, then couple of strays one of which we adopted and were blessed with a year of his life. And about 5 randoms that turn up for biscuits and wet food l put out each night. Then there there is about 50 blackbirds, starlings and sparrows that get fed endlessly in front and back gardens. And then there is "Ginge" who decided after the passing of Tom he needed to move in, it's difficult his human mother lives two houses away, he has recently injured his hip, she kept him in for about two weeks, and then gave into him and let him out.

He clearly loves it here rather than the hit and miss house he has come from, l don't want him to like it here. And found him last night crying outside my back door at 01.30, cold, wet, and hungry and in pain from his hip. It's very hard, to chuck him out for him to be back screaming at the door 10 mins later.

Heartache - it is difficult when the cat's owner lives so near, but the cat obviously doesn't like living there. Maybe you can adopt him if he really is voting with his feet? Clearly you'd have to be very diplomatic when broaching the subject with his current owners.

Probably likes your food more. I would never feed someone else's cat. its a recipe for disaster.
One of mine went missing for almost a week I put posters up and then he walked through the door clearly well fed, they probably thought he was a stray as no collar.

I had an old lady steal my cat once. She was missing for ages, then the shop keeper said someone had said to him a cat fitting my advert in the window matched the new cat the lady next door to her had.

I went round her house and she said yes I have her, but she won't leave, clearly I could hear my cat jumping at the door meowing at my voice. I asked her top open the door and she opened it a crack, blocked it with her body saying "see" :D
Anyway, cat got out and just walked back down the road with me. Bet she told people I had taken the cat back when clearly she didn't want to leave ha!

If my cats were happier elsewhere then I would really have no problem letting someone keep them. but a lot of people think if a cat comes in and makes themselves comfortable then its unhappy at home. It might be, but it might not be and just milking the cuteness to get extra treats.

I have two cats and a Staffy dog. Sometimes I wish they would all leave me and find somewhere else to live :D

I have two cats. Yoshi and Houdini.
Would love to have a dog again (RIP Sammy) but can't afford any more. Those two cost me enough as it is.

We have a female cat, Penny who's 14 now. Although I'm not sure if we have her or she has us. She's such a lovely gentle cat, she's never scratched or bitten. The only thing is she doesn't like being picked up ever since the run in with a car she had at the age of 10 months which broke her leg and pelvis, but after a week in the animal hospital she was fine to come home, the good thing is that since then she has never once set foot out of our garden, so we always know where she is. She will come and sit on our laps though when she feels like it, but that's cats for you, you don't own them they own you. :)

I just have the one cat - a rescue baby called Smudge (I didnt name her!) I did her her mother for a while too but mother clearly didnt want to be saddled with baby any longer and kept attacking her - mother had to go back to the rescue centre (which broke me heart) to be rehomed into a single cat household (which she has been and is loving life!)
