As a gay man, that would be what turns me off.
It's bordering on stereotypes and more about "the image/act" than the actual voice. Why a weave? Unless you are opting for some sort of drag act?
I'm all for singing about love/relationships/acceptance etc... But the "spectacle" isn't needed. I'm a big fan of Kate Bush & Tori Amos. Two artists who have had very good careers without having to resort to Madonna crudeness... I do like Madonna too and have most of her albums but she needs to reign it in a bit. As does Gaga with all this preaching crap.
If it was some singer that was OTT like Rylan, that would just put me off. It also just tars us all with the same brush
Neil Tennant has never made much of an issue of it, yet has had a huge following for 27 years across the board. I think it's the more OTT ones like Jedward that annoy both gay and straight people and their careers is fizzling out.
a gay guy wouldn't attract the girls because he would be seen as completely unattainable.
Boy George had a global teenage girl fan base in the 80s and he couldn't have been more unattainable. Girls need to be interested in, not necessarily sexually attracted to a star. Adam Lambert in the US no doubt has legions of female fans and has had since the start

Exactly. There would be nothing worse.
I agree, it would be hell.

I don't even know what a weave is! Am I terribly out of touch?

He's been out since providing vocals on a Gorillaz song , he's got a really pleasant voice just wish he'd roll on releasing his album.
