Quick Trivia Question ???

:o Just re-watching a few of the Classic episodes from yesteryear ;) in the lead-up to the anniversary when Susan, granddaughter (often wondered how that worked? ) , mentions in very early episode 'The Reign of Terror' that in all the history of Earth the Doctor's most favorite era is post-revolutionary France during - as it happens - Robespierre's bloody escapades.

So just wondein' why that might possibly be? Does our hero have a secret passion for chopping people's heads off? Or could it be that he liked the emergence of egalitarianism out of society's feudal monarchies? :)

It was certainly a very exciting time with lots of new ideas being explored in very passionate ways. The start of the revolution was filled with nobel people arguing ideas back and forth. There were a lot of good intentions that fell apart which I imagine the a Doctor would have enjoyed trying to offer to support.

Also there were a lot of talented knitters who were making his scarf for him. :)

It's probably got something to do with cake.

Or fashions? If The Reign of Terror had been made today, that hat would have had its own spin-off by now.

More likely, perhaps, is that it was a line introduced to explain how Susan, back in the very first episode, was able to open The French Revolution and immediately spot an error.
