Nope, because of how much propaganda about him that was forced onto us when I was at school.

No. Why not? It's just a ludicrous notion.

Of course not. Not a single bit of evidence. EVER. Simple really. I don't listen to Chinese whispers. That's all the Bible is.

    No.

    Lack of evidence.

Impossibility of establishing their credentials/intentions even if one did roll up.

Neither do I, (except for ghosts).

I love these in depth threads, the OP obviously spent hours phrasing the wording of the question.

No. I'm happy with evolution. God did not create Earth, the sun, the moon the other planets. God didn't create humans and the other animals and the plants in 6 days. It took billions of years for Earth to get to where it is today. Earth has billions of years to go and humans will not be here for most if them.

Also, if God does exist, why is he sitting back and allowing so many bad things to happen in the world?

No. The belief in gods is just absurd.

No, because I see no reason to. Could some form of a higher power with god-like properties exist? Possibly. Could such a being be responsible for our creation or the creation of the known universe? Possibly. But there's no evidence one does, nor any evidence that one is necessary. So until that changes, I'll stick to not believing in one.

But if one does exist, I am certain it will not be the god of any of our religions. Even if any of our religions have a root in the existence of such a god, I'm confident that they've all been so thoroughly twisted that they bear no resemblance to reality.

Why is it that the vast majority of schools try to force people from a very young age to believe in God then?

No...I don't think anyone really does,do they? It's just drummed into us when we are little, then we want to believe it when we start to fear death.

    Why or why not?

Unfortunately, these days, most people read that question as 'Do you believe God exists as a physical being?' It seems to be the norm now to assume that if you say you believe in God that's what you mean.

It's a shame - it means it's not very easy to have a discussion about it.

Define what you mean by God and I'll do my best to explain what I think about understanding of the concept, as well as my estimation of the its likelihood.

Not a religious God - those are all just invented by humans. I do entertain the notion of some kind of intangible Universal consciousness though.

    Yes.

To me God is Life, the Universe.

Life is good but the world is not, there is a massive difference.
