I seen Digby a few years ago at a Legal conference in the very same hall, have to say he was very good . He was touted as being a future Labour leader along with Owen Jones , to see him at a Tory conference , cant believe it .I suppose its a good payday for him.

Digby Jones has never been a member of any party. Even as a minister in Labour's government he remained a cross-bencher. Osborne would be smart to give him a job too.

Owen Jones (no relation) as leader? That would be hilarious. Maybe Polly Toynbee could be his deputy.

Will George Osborne mention the £1.4 trillion deficit he has made, do you think?

The deficit is around £75bn down from £150bn in 2010. You need to look up the difference between deficit and debt.

Haha he has said he's mending to roof when the sun shines and going to reduce Whitehall spending this year by 13 billion...which seems a bit fanciful for him with an increasing deficit.

Long term youth unemployment to be abolished... Here's how...

    JSA to be replaced.
    No housing benefit.
Benefits cap limit to be further reduced.

Nice, those whose income is less than the tax threshold are going to be worse off as their money is frozen while prices increase. I also noticed that when he talked about welfare he never mentioned that a great chunk of that £100bn goes to subsidise companies paying low wages and those out of work account for less than £5bn.

Good. How do you help businesses by raising their taxes?

No, stop begging. No JSA for you and go get a minimum wage job on a zero hours contract. We're all in this together :kitty:

Point taken, LostFool. :p I wouldn't make it as Chancellor because I don't really understand all of it.

However, I do understand debt very well; and, even though I am not in debt, I do have to suffer the consequences. So I shall rephrase:

Will George Osborne mention the £1.4 trillion debt mountain he has helped to create, do you think?

Re deficit and debt: If deficit includes borrowing, then how does that not amount to accruing debt also?

I didn't realise that was a responsibility of the Chancellor. William Hague spoke about it yesterday.
