I'm just listening to the statement on Sky News. I'm not too surprised really.

BBC ironically slowest to break that. CNN and Sky broke it 10 minutes ago

And rightly so. (and unlike most on DS I'm a supporter of the BBC and it's licence fee).

Tendered his resignation? But has it been accepted?

I can only imagine that someone high up has asked him to resign. Him resigning would look better for the BBC than if they had sacked him. Resigning always gives the impression that it's the individual's own decision.

Such a shame this right wing witch hunt as a result of the Savile stuff.

Looks as if Sky were holding it back until he made his statement. Not like them at all.

Its hardly his fault, I do think he must of been lent on. If the BBC think this will make everything better..........

Why it seems that because Save is dead people are desperate to find other people to somehow amplify the blame onto its ridiculous.

    Bonkers.

Unless he felt his previous roles at the BBC had any bearing on his inability to do the job with integrity now?

This is a very rare thing to happen.

After his Radio 4 interview this morning... can't say I'm surprised... he should have been all over Newnight after the previous debacle... instead he seemed completely oblivious to what his own station was doing.

I have no sympathy for the BBC but do feel for George. He has been the scapegoat and poor bloke had only been in the job something like 20 days! lol

Grow up. You seriously think this is some right wing conspiracy? Nothing to do with an idiot refusing to do anything as the chaos consumed the BBC?

Well that job didn't last very long.

Perhaps he can miss it off his CV.
