Lyon have beaten RM, although not RM under Jose. It would be fantastic if they did it again though
Good draw for AC Milan. Out of all the sides that finished top Spurs was one of the best they could of got. Milan are a good side this year and with spurs defence incapable of keeping clean sheets I think Milan with there firepower will get through over 2 legs.
Having watched Barca steamroller their way through most teams in la liga this season including Madrid I dont really hold up much hope for Arsenal tbh.
Although it depends which Arsenal turn up on the day.
of course its possible but looking at the two sides I cant only see one winner over two leagues. Barca were a class above Arsenal last season and this year are even better. I just dont see where arsenal win the tie. Arsenal are too shaky at the back for one and I cant see them stopping barcelona creating chances.
Course Arsenal have a chance.
People seem to forget that Spurs have been without Dawson, Woodgate and King for most of the season, and Kaboul has been out injured for periods. We have played probably 6 or 7 different CB pairings this season due to injuries. Gettin Daws back is a huge boost. I personally can't see us losing at home, and after being to the San Siro already this season, think we will have learnt from our slip-up there.
Indeed. You also have to bear in mind we had Sol and Silvestre as our centre-back pairing, and as good as Sol was, they had no pace between them. If we have Vermaelen fit again, who knows?
That said, Barca also seem to have stepped up their game this year, and their attack running at our defence is a terrifying thought. We can't be completely written off, though.
I'm pretty happy with our (United's) draw. We always seem to get French clubs in the first knockout round and we normally win without too many problems so I fancy it to be a straightforward tie.
Spurs and Milan is going to be very interesting, and I honestly have no idea what I think is going to happen there. There could be plenty of goals in that one.
Inter v Bayern sounds great on paper but it'll probably end up with Inter winning 1-0 on aggregate or on away goals.
But one could argue Barca had enough chances in the 1st leg to be 4-0 up after 20 mins
That goal shouldn't of stood because the pass to Bendtner was offside when the pass was made from walcott.
If Messi gets injured and Arsenal get a groove going, of course they can win the tie (even if Messi isn't injured0. Obviously, it's the most difficult job out of the lot of the EPL teams.
Aye some of the best football I've seen, how they didn't score I'll never know.
There are a million ifs and buts in every game, I was highlighting one that would have put Arsenal in a strong position in the tie, just to show they have a chance and that Barcelona aren't unbeatable.
wednesday 16th February Arsenal v Barcelona
wednesday 23rd february Marsielle v Man Utd
wednesday 9thd March Tottenham v ac Milan
wednesday 16th march Chelsea v Copenhagen
Should be a good game but Barcelona will easily see off the pretenders irregardless of how much protestation there is.
The first 20 minutes of that first leg was absolutely sensational from Barca. How they werent atleast 2 goals up after that spell is unbelievable.
You never know about Barcelona. Yes they will control the ball for large periods of the game, and create alot of good chances. But even a good team can have a bad day infront of goal. And Arsenal will get a few chances themselves.
I know that no football match has ever been played on paper, but on paper, this is as one sided as a cat in its prime versus an ageing & arthritic mouse!
From an English perspective, surely Tottenham -v- AC Milan is a far more intruiging contest with a hint of the unknown about it?
Arsenal have a chance, but I guess it will be said that it's not just a question of Barcelona being brilliant, it's also that it's a bad matchup of styles for Arsenal. It's easier to beat Barcelona by defending than it is to beat them by controlling possession and outplaying them (which is what Arsenal will no doubt attempt to do).
Barcelona will rip Arsenal apart beating them 2-1 at the Emirates and 5-0 at the Nou Camp. Tottenham will get past AC Milan on away goals. Man United will draw 1-1 at the Veledrome but lose 1-0 at Old Trafford with a last minute goal from Brandao. Chelsea will lose in Copenhagen but easily beat them at Stamford Bridge and go through on aggregate. Inter will edge out Bayern, Roma will beat Shaktar, Real Madrid will be too good for Lyon and Valencia will knock Schalke out.
