'Music Has the Right to Children' by Boards of Canada (anything by this band is worth checking out: 'Campfire Headphase', 'Geogaddi' both immersive, inventive albums)
'Another Green World' by Brian Eno (you can't really go wrong with Eno: 'Evening Star', 'Discreet Music', 'Music for Films', 'Ambient 1' are all good, albeit more ambient than chillout)
'The Orb's Adventures Beyond The Ultraworld' by The Orb is a bit of a seminal entry in the genre...
Lemon Jelly's albums are pretty good too, and more upbeat ('Lemon Jelly, 'Lost Horizons')
Fourtet, saddled with the clumsy 'folktronica' tag, but much better than that sounds ('Pause', 'Rounds', 'Everything Ecstatic')
Nightmares on wax-Smokers Delight
DJ Cam-Mad Blunted Jazz
Zero 7-Destiny
Air-Premiers symptomes
St Germain-Bolvard
Mr Scruff-Keep it unreal
The Chemical Brothers-Surendder
Victorialand is probably the most chilled Cocteau Twins album - try something like Lazy Calm from it. stick with it - about halfway through it comes to life beautifully.
or maybe some of the tracks from the moon and the melodies album they did with Harold Budd, like the ghost has no home or she will destroy you.
Jon Hopkins - Contact Note and Opalescent
Ulrich Schnauss - Far Away Trains Passing By
Cafe Del Mar - Aria 2
Air - 10000 Hz Legend (better than Moon Safari IMHO)
"chill out or die" compilation or anything by the irresistable force a.k.a mxmaster morris..... his collaboraton with pete namlook "dreamfish" is awesome.

'Chill Out' by the KLF
*edit*
...I'd also recommend:
'Music Has the Right to Children' by Boards of Canada (anything by this band is worth checking out: 'Campfire Headphase', 'Geogaddi' both immersive, inventive albums)
'Another Green World' by Brian Eno (you can't really go wrong with Eno: 'Evening Star', 'Discreet Music', 'Music for Films', 'Ambient 1' are all good, albeit more ambient than chillout)

The rest in my top five would be:
Melody AM - Royskopp: fab as well (Eple, So Easy, Poor Leno)
Play - Moby: Some great chill out tracks on this great album (the fab Porcalin, Down Slow, Inside, Why does my heart?)
Mezzanine - Massive Attack: The gorgeous Teardrop need i say more!!
Kid A - Radiohead: This is my own number one fave album to chill out to, love it!
'Country Falls' by Finnish downtempo/dreampop merchants Husky Rescue
...if you like 'Moon Safari' it's highly likely you'll like this one too, a beautiful album:)
DJ Cam-Mad Blunted Jazz
Zero 7-Destiny
Air-Premiers symptomes
St Germain-Bolvard
Mr Scruff-Keep it unreal
The Chemical Brothers-Surendder
I'd like to add...
Brian Eno - Apollo
Global Communication - 76.14
Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works 1
And a recent belter (in a mellow way) -
Future Loop Foundation - The Fading Room
I wouldn't say any Chems LPs are chill out though!
Not unless you hear their work with Beth Orton.
76.14 by Global Communications
Anyone who is into their Chill Out needs to hunt this classic down
Cheers for that, both the KLF and Husky Rescue albums are available to listen to free on Deezer:

Actually I found it dull.
I concur - Both HR albums are quite lovely...
Also from a couple of years ago "Bliss - They Made History" and any of Gregor Samsa's or Johan Johannsson's stuff is wonderful....
Victorialand is probably the most chilled Cocteau Twins album - try something like Lazy Calm from it. stick with it - about halfway through it comes to life beautifully.

My vote goes for Royskopp and Moby.
Great list!
I'd also suggest:
Bent - Ariels
and
Bonobo - Days To Come
Both stunningly sublime albums.
Yes, but in its entireity the LP isn't really chill out. There was a time when Chems albums had Orton songs on as standard.
Bent's Aerials is very underrated.
I prefer Programmed to Love. 5 of the top 10 most played tracks on my iPod are from that album.
Jon Hopkins - Contact Note and Opalescent
Ulrich Schnauss - Far Away Trains Passing By
Cafe Del Mar - Aria 2
Air - 10000 Hz Legend (better than Moon Safari IMHO)
If I'm chilling out, soft soul does it for me. Something like Anita Baker / Rapture.
Again, I've got 1 & 2, and I find them dull.
chicane - behind the sun
william orbit - pieces in a modern style
compilation wise go for any by chris coco, the solar spectrums series was stellar.
The Chicane album is more house than chill out, and the Wiliam Orbit one is a classical music album, not really what I what define as chill out.
