Looking at the British team, I can see medals being a bit scanty.

Mo Farah x 2 is our best bet for gold
All the other guys are outsiders who'll need a bit of luck to get anything.
Robbie Grabarz, Greg Rutherford, the 400m hurdles boys are not in medal form.
Steve Lewis in the vault is almost at bronze medal level on heights, but has never done anything at any championships.
Both relay teams will be relying on other people's mistakes to get anything.

Jess Ennis....if she goes at all, probably not gold. I can see Katrina Johnson-Thompson getting in the top 5.
Christine Ohurougo and Perry Shakes Drayton - both good medal chances
Shara Procter is usually pretty consistent in the Long Jump.
Eilidh Child, Tiffany Porter are outsiders.
Not confident about the tactical brains of the 800m and 1500m ladies.
Women's 4x400 have the best chance of any of the relay squads.

seeing as nijel amos and david rudisha (silver and gold from daegu 2013) are out of the 800m, the US are looking likely to have two men on the podium (nick symmonds and duane solomon). ethiopia's mohamed aman is my bet for gold though. he's been pretty consistent this year. Ayanleh Souleiman from djibouti is a good bet for a medal too.

shelly-ann fraser-pryce holds the world lead for both 100 and 200m, quite comfortably ahead of murielle ahoure on the 200m list. blessing okagbare looks like a real contender for gold in the 100m. having said that, she set two PBs in london, and it might take another PB to beat shelly-ann with the form she's in. how many PBs can one athlete get in a season?! also - allyson felix should never be discounted despite not showing much form this year (only 7 on the world list and 2nd at US championships).

USA look likely for 4x100m gold for women, despite the team looking a bit weaker than the team that won gold in london. i'm not sure about jamaica's chance at silver this time without VCB and sherone. that's a huge blow to the women's team.

I don't see the point of you marking the team line ups and the schudle as spoilers! They have been announced to the media and have been made public.

well the point is that the thread won't be really long. it's to save people scrolling to see the team they want to see - instead they can just view the teams individually and more easily. thought it'd be better like this?

Yes, according to the BBC preview:
Analysis comes from Michael Johnson, Paula Radcliffe, Denise Lewis and Colin Jackson, with Steve Cram leading the commentary team.

I believe so and of course BBC 5Live have signed up Donovan Bailey.

Anyway I usually end up switching to Eurosport when the 'talking heads' come on.

Problem with Eurosport now is that they like to squeeze in Maurice Greene's Godawful interviews. Never has someone been so ill suited (outside of the Brits) to hold a mike.

this reminds me, did anyone see on friday when colin jackson interviewed jason gardner and donovan bailey, and jason looked at donovan's face when answering colin's questions? :D so funny but awkward.

He makes Sally Gunnell look good.

Plus you get the adverts - and it's the same half a dozen ads on a permanent loop seemingly.

The advertisers must get a good rate on bulk ad deals.

I see Tomlinson is having a moan. He should have jumped better!! Still struggling to regularly jump 8m after all these years.

Looking at the British team, I can see medals being a bit scanty.
    .

In fairness, I'd say our medal chances are about on a par with what is normally the case, though obviously the 2009/11 totals are unlikely to be beat:

    2001 - 2
    2003 - 3
    2005 - 3
    2007 - 5
    2009 - 6
    2011 - 7

Just looking at Katerina Johnson-Thompson's score, in the European U-23s earlier this month she won with 6213 - if she can find 2 or 3 hundred points she might make the podium. Without Jess, Chernova, Dobrynska and Skuyjte, I don't think many of the others have a PB better than 6500 or so.

Like she was ever going to make the time out of her busy catwalk career for something as mundane as this.

For the olympics GB got a 4-1-1 gold/silver/bronze ratio. Mo the only man likely to win GBs golds?
